Knitted socks with patterns. Openwork socks with a “Triangles” pattern. Knitted socks-boots, patterns

The times when jacquard patterns, braids and flowers could only be seen on a sweater are long gone. Today they are successfully used when knitting even the simplest clothes - socks. In this case, you can decorate both the cuffs of the product and the entire fabric. We will talk about ways to knit patterned socks, and patterns and descriptions are included.

Decor options and ways to place them

To knit socks, you don’t need to have any special work experience or skill, because even children at school are among the first to learn this product during labor lessons. Therefore, there is no point in focusing on details. Let's better talk about ornaments, and it is worth noting that there are quite a lot of options.

When choosing a knitting pattern, each needlewoman is based on her experience, the availability of materials and the further purpose of the socks. Regarding the last point, two points should be taken into account:

  • If you plan to wear knitted socks under your shoes in winter, then you need to choose a tight pattern, without small holes or broaches.
  • When are knitted socks intended to play the role of a decorative element in home clothes, they can be made with thin threads, and the pattern can be chosen as an openwork one.

There are several options for where to knit the ornament:

  • as a decorative cuff;
  • knit a pattern throughout the product;
  • in the form of a ribbon of braids, petals and other things in the center of the sock.

Schemes for decorating cuffs are considered the simplest to implement, and even a novice craftswoman can master them. Since the upper part of the sock is a solid canvas, there is no need to add loops or make decreases, and absolutely all designs are suitable for decoration. For example, a knitted top with a rollback looks very nice.

The option in which the upper part of the sock, from the elastic band to the heel, is tied with braids, ribbons or strands looks very original. Due to the unique shape of the pattern and the different directions of the pattern, such socks visually add volume to the leg.

Classic decorative techniques are not inferior in the leadership of patterns for socks. Thus, ordinary plaits and intertwined braids, made horizontally relative to the cuff, add charm and charm to the finished product.

The best possible solution is to place the pattern in the center of the sock. You will be able to knit socks without spending too much time fiddling with patterns, since often all patterns are presented in the form of longitudinal stripes. You can form the pattern immediately after finishing work on the elastic band or from the first row of the cuff. It's up to you to decide what will look best. And for inspiration, we offer this example of a longitudinal ornament.

Even if you haven’t found a design that’s right for you, you can depict any pattern in your arsenal on your socks. Review your old knitting patterns for sweaters, hats, jackets, perhaps that’s where you’ll find that perfect pattern.

Tall socks with owl pattern

Patterns and descriptions of openwork socks with knitting needles are considered the most difficult to execute. To create such a piece of clothing, you will have to practice a little and get used to changing patterns correctly. In addition, the skills of decreasing, dividing and increasing loops will be very useful.

If you decide to knit socks with a pattern all over the fabric, be prepared in advance for the fact that throughout the entire work you need to carefully monitor the loops and count them correctly. All this will be useful to ensure that the drawing does not “move” outside the selected area, is symmetrical and proportional to the volume. The master class below gives an excellent example of knitting light openwork socks with the “Owl” pattern.

Necessary materials:

  • 200 g wool yarn;
  • knitting needles 2.5 and 2.75 mm;
  • hook;
  • pin;
  • big needle.

Process description:

Among all the possible clothing items available for self-made, knitted socks can be called the most traditional. However, the decorative design of these familiar objects may be different. Long gone are the days when braids, embroidery, openwork and jacquard patterns were used only for sweaters and dresses.

Today, knitted socks are decorated using any pattern you like, balloons, asymmetrical color distribution and other techniques. As a result, we get beautiful ones with decorative elements.

To knit socks, you can use completely different patterns. Their schemes in large quantities are contained on the network. When choosing a knitting method, each craftswoman is guided by her experience, the materials available, the purpose and appearance future product.

For socks that are intended to perform a purely warming function, it is advisable to use denser patterns. For more decorative models that will not be worn in shoes, but worn around the house, you can use openwork patterns or voluminous decor (pompoms, ruffles, appliqués).

A few words about jacquard patterns

These classic patterns are certainly the most popular in winter time of the year. However, knitting them is fraught with some difficulties:

  • simultaneous work with threads different color.
  • timely replacement of threads.
  • creating the correct tension.
  • compliance with the specified knitting density.

The optimal way to arrange jacquard patterns is to form stripes with a pattern. They are placed on the cuff and on those areas of the sock fabric that are selected for decoration.

In order to knit socks completely covered with multi-colored patterns, you should consistently repeat the selected pattern. Between the stripes you can place several rows connected stockinette stitch or others simple pattern. Or there may be no borders at all, then the impression will be created of one large ornament. Schemes of interesting ornaments are proposed below.

Ways to place patterns on socks

There are several options for distributing patterns on knitted fabric of socks; they differ in complexity and speed of execution. With their help you can create a variety of models:

  • a drawing that occupies the entire canvas;
  • pattern on the cuff;
  • ornament in the form of a long strip.

When knitting socks, it is important to choose suitable patterns. May be suitable for beginner knitters simple circuits, illustrating the implementation of ornaments with narrow longitudinal repeats. The vertical structure of the pattern will allow it to fit into the fabric of the socks. Rapports located in a checkerboard pattern can confuse the craftswoman and interfere with her when calculating the loops for the heel. However, this option can be used to decorate the smooth cuff of a sock with a pattern.

In cases where a suitable pattern is not found, you can independently select the fragment or element you like from those patterns that are available.

Decorating the cuff of socks

This method can safely be called the simplest. The cuff is knitted evenly, there are no increases or decreases in stitches, so absolutely all patterns are suitable for its manufacture. After completing the knitting of the upper part of the sock, you should switch to stockinette stitch and continue making it in the usual way. The photos below show examples of knitted socks with a pattern on the cuff.

A very interesting option is in which the upper part of the sock is tied separately using cords. The loops for knitting the sock itself are cast on the side of the finished cuff. The peculiarity of this technique is that the elements of the product have different knitting directions. The disadvantage of this method is the possible discrepancy between the sizes of the canvases.

An alternative method is to make two separate pieces: the cuff and the toe. They are connected using an elastic knitted seam.

Stripe pattern: a knitting compromise

Placing the design on the front knitted socks is the best option. This method allows you to knit a beautiful product without excessive time investment. It is most convenient to use longitudinal patterns with knitting needles for socks. For some of them, diagrams are presented below.

The formation of the patterned stripe begins immediately after the cuff is completed.

However, you can start knitting a pattern from the first row of the cuff, then the elastic will be located on the sides of it. This is what you do when you need to knit high decorative socks. In order for knitted socks with a pattern to be symmetrical and neat, you should think about the placement of the ornament strip in advance. It is best to knit and measure a control sample. Based on it, draw up a diagram of your sock on a piece of checkered paper. This technique will clearly show how many loops can be allocated for knitting a pattern. This is also convenient for forming a diagram consisting of elements of different patterns.

When starting to knit the fabric for the heel, you should make sure that the pattern strip is placed in the center of the future sock.

When the heel is ready, knitting the pattern needs to be continued. Here it is important not to get lost and knit the loops in accordance with the pattern.

Pattern on the entire surface of the socks

Making such a product requires a certain skill and experience from the knitter. If you need to knit socks completely decorated with a pattern, you need to carefully consider the choice of pattern, calculation of loops and rows. These measures are required to ensure that the distribution of pattern elements is symmetrical and proportional. Often, the design is placed on the cuff of the sock, on its front and sides. There is no need to knit a pattern on the foot.

Socks knitted using this method can include one or more patterns. The photo below shows an example of the distribution of one pattern with braids.

Braids of different sizes are used here: large ones form the center of the composition, and small ones play the role of a frame. They are located along the edges of the pattern strip, separating the fabric with a smooth knit. The transition from elastic to knitting a braid pattern is also interesting.

Summer socks model

This model is perfect for a cool summer evening outdoors. We knit openwork socks with 2.5 mm knitting needles from DROPS FABEL yarn with a composition of 75% wool / 25% polyamide, thickness 200 m / 50 g. Schemes for making an openwork pattern are presented below.

Legend for schemes.

Face loop:

1 yarn over:

2 together front:

Slip 1 stitch, knit a second stitch and pull through the previous one:

Slip 1 stitch, knit 2 together, pull the resulting loop through the removed one:

For leg sizes 35-37, you need to cast on 62 stitches on stocking needles and knit two rows with stockinette stitch, then perform 6 circles with a 1x1 rib. In the seventh row, knit the first 11 loops with an elastic band, and the remaining 51 loops with the front stitch, while evenly decreasing 10 loops. This leaves 52 loops. In the next row we knit the first 11 loops with a 1x1 elastic band, and the remaining 41 loops with an M1 pattern. When the length of the product becomes 16 cm, you need to leave an elastic band and 8 loops on each side, transferring the remaining loops to a pin - this will be the front part of the sock. Knit the loops on the knitting needles in stockinette stitch another 5 cm up. Place a marker in the center and continue measuring from there. We knit the heel as follows:

First row (front): knit until the last 7 stitches, slip one loop, then one knit stitch, pull it through the removed one and turn around.

Second row (purl): we knit purl until the last 7 loops, remove one, then purl one, which we pull through the removed one, and turn around.

Third row: knit until the last 6 stitches, slip one, knit one, pull it through the removed stitch, turn around.

Fourth row: we knit purl until the last six loops, remove one, purl one, which we pull through the removed one, and turn around.

We knit like this until there are 15 stitches left on the knitting needles. Then we pick up 13 loops on each side and return the loops from the pin, so there are 66 loops on the knitting needles. We highlight the central 25 loops with a marker on both sides - this is the upper part of the foot. Then we knit the same 25 loops with the M2 pattern, and we knit the remaining loops with stockinette stitch, while it is necessary to make decreases on the sides as follows: 2 knit stitches together before the marker and 2 knit stitches together after the pattern and 2 markers. Make such decreases 8 times so that 50 loops remain. Carry out the pattern up to 18 cm from the center of the heel. Place markers on the sides - 25 stitches on top and 25 on the bottom and knit in stockinette stitch. In this case, it is necessary to make decreases to form the sock 2 stitches before the marker as follows: knit 2 together, marker, knit 2 together crossed. It is necessary to decrease every other row 4 times, then in each row 6 times. Pull and fasten the remaining 10 loops.

We also offer two more openwork pattern, which are ideal for beautiful socks:

With a little thought, you can take this pattern as a basis and develop your own model.

Knitted socks are an almost indispensable item for frosty winter. Nothing will keep your feet warm like hand-knitted socks. Knitting socks is not difficult, especially if you don’t want to be original and choose simple model. And knitted socks with knitting patterns, the patterns of which are presented in this article, will require some experience in knitting. They look very impressive because they are connected Norwegian pattern. In fact, this pattern is a thematic variation of the jacquard pattern. It is usually knitted with two colors of yarn using stockinette stitch.

Winter subjects are chosen for knitting - snowflakes, Christmas trees, deer, etc. The main difficulty when knitting with a Norwegian pattern is to be able to correctly adjust the tension of the thread as it draws. Excessive loosening will lead to the appearance of holes, and too tight a thread will tighten the fabric. But this problem can be solved; you just need to carefully and carefully monitor the non-working thread and its tension. We offer you models of socks with Norwegian jacquard.

4r. (wrong side): knit up to 8 outer sts, from 2 sts. knit 1i. broach, unfold the work.

Description

We cast on with knitting needles 72 sts. (same quantity for all sizes) red yarn. We knit in the round 1 r. knit stitches. Let's move on to knitting an elastic band. We do 4 rubles. Next is the pattern of diagram A.1. In the last row of the pattern repeat, we bring the number of stitches to 66; 72; 72 pieces. After knitting one vertical repeat, distribute the loops in the row like this: 5 p. – сх. A.2a, 23; 29; 29p. – сх. A.2b, 5p. – сх. A.2s, 33p. – сх. A.3

Be careful: at 1 p.m. diagrams A.3, decreases are made. That leaves us with 64; 70; 70p.

Having connected one vertical repeat of diagram A.3, we remove the initial 33; 39; 39p. (these are loops c. A.2a, A.2b, A.2c) for extra. knitting needle On the remaining 31p. We will knit the heel.

For this we have a pattern of diagram A.4. We must link 5; 5.5; 6cm and set a marker. We will take further measurements from it.

From the next R. We perform decreases for the heel with knitting needles (see explanations above), continuing the pattern of diagram A.4.

Having completed the decreases, we raise 12 along the edges of the heel; 13; 14p. When lifting, we alternately use different colors of thread - see diagram. A.4. We combine the raised loops with the previously set aside 33; 39; 39p. in a general circular row. In work we get 72; 80; 82p.

For further knitting of socks, distribute the loops as follows: 33; 39; 39p. (upper part) - cx. A.2a, A.2b, A.2c; on the remaining points - cx. A.4. For the lifting wedge, on both sides of the upper part we decrease the loops: from 2p. need to knit 1l. red yarn to pattern A.2a and 2p. knit in 1l. pulling red yarn after it.

We make such decreases every other row 6 times. We have 60 left; 68; 70p.

We continue knitting socks with Norwegian jacquard using knitting needles up to 17; 18; 21cm from the marker. All we have to do is connect 5; 6; 6cm. The algorithm is as follows: cx. A.2a, 23; 29; 29p. – сх.А.4, А.2с, 27; 29; 31p. – A.4. At the same time, for the toe on the fingers, we decrease the loops on both sides of the patterns A.2a and A.2c: knit 2p to the patterns. in 1 person (red thread), after the patterns of 2 p. we knit 1 l. broach (red thread).

We repeat the decreases with knitting needles in every second row of red yarn 6; 9; 9 times, then in each row of red yarn 4; 1; 1 time. We have 20; 28; 30p. In the final r. We knit all loops 2 together with red yarn. We get 10; 14; 15p. We break the thread, thread it through the loops, tighten it, bring it to wrong side, fix.

Patterns and diagrams with descriptions for knitting socks

This knitting lesson is for those of you who would happily prefer knitted socks with plain or colored patterns to house slippers. jacquard pattern. Knitted socks have many advantages over indoor slippers. They wash well and won't require you to take them off if you just want to sit on a sofa or chair with your feet up. Choosing a model
, it is very important to select schemes that will not cause difficulties. In addition, it is desirable to have a high-quality description of the symbols and the entire process of work. Needlewomen have been knitting socks with knitting needles for a very long time, and this needlework has become one of the most popular types of knitting. Over the centuries, many techniques for making socks with knitting needles have been developed, as well as their decorative diversity in the design process. If in earlier times complex patterns were made exclusively on outerwear, today they are also present on home socks, which are usually decorated with any design or pattern that you like.

A variety of patterns and ornaments for knitting socks

There are practically no restrictions in choosing patterns for knitted socks. In knitting magazines, as well as on the Internet, you can find any working techniques, patterns and patterns. Before starting needlework, you need to carefully consider the choice of threads, ornaments or designs, select necessary diagrams. In addition, it is advisable to decide for what purpose you want to knit socks. If the main purpose is the comfort and warmth of socks, then it is better to choose thicker threads and thinner knitting needles. Schemes with dense relief will help you to knitted patterns were warm. For socks that you will wear at home for beauty, choose a pattern with an openwork or jacquard pattern, if it is easy to knit.

Socks with cords on the cuffs

The ornament or relief on the socks is divided depending on how the needlewoman can knit it on the surface of the product itself. Some people like it when the design or patterns are placed on the most visible part of the sock, that is, on the cuffs. Drawings and their patterns knitted in this way become decorations, and socks can be worn in boots, leaving the cuffs visible.

Pay attention to one of these strands called Arana, which is perfect for knitting the cuff of socks.

Master class on knitting with the Estonian spiral pattern

These knitted socks belong to the group of products that are made with a pattern over the entire surface. The pattern is missing only on the cuff, toe and heel. This pattern, called the Estonian Spiral, is extremely popular today, and is used mainly in tube-shaped items such as socks or scarves. It has great elasticity, density and excellent fit. A simple ornament is made exclusively in a circle from a number of loops that is a multiple of six. If you like diamonds of different colors, as in the photo, then replace the threads every four rows.

Knitted socks in size thirty-two are made with blue and white threads on number three knitting needles. Let's make a set of fifty-two loops and place them equally on four knitting needles.
This is followed by a cuff of ten rows of regular elastic, where one knit stitch (KL) alternates with one purl loop (PL). When the elastic is finished, you need to move directly to the main pattern. For it, in each row you need to knit rapport in the following sequence. Let's make two LPs, then yarn over, two LPs again, and then two loops (L) together. We knit the first four rows, after which we change the thread to a different color to complete the next four.
The main pattern is performed in twenty-four rows, after which we proceed to knitting the heel with an elastic band of twenty-six loops, which we place on a separate knitting needle. We knit the first twenty rows (P) for the heel, after which we divide P into three parts. When dividing, we leave ten pieces in the center, and eight on the sides. Next, we will make nine central Ps from the wrong side, and knit the tenth together with the first side one, and so on at the end of all Ps, until the Ps of the central third remain.
After this, we collect new units on the sides of the heel, bringing the number of units to thirteen on each knitting needle. Then we will continue knitting the sock in the round with the main pattern. At the end of the work, we will make the toe of the sock and close all the loops.

Master class on knitting socks with full length braids

Many people prefer an openwork or dense relief, which is located on the toe, occupying the entire space of the canvas, except for the heel, sole and toe. There is another method when the ornament or design is located along the length of the sock, lengthwise. Basically, these are braids or plaits that greatly decorate the surface of the fabric without causing much difficulty to the knitter. In this case, you must carefully ensure that the stripe of the ornament runs strictly in the center of the sock, without going to the side. Having decided to knit a braid or plait along the length of the sock with knitting needles, the needlewoman can perform the relief, starting from the cuff, or immediately after it. If the tourniquet is knitted from the cuff, then on the sides of it the main pattern of the top of the sock is formed, that is, a thick elastic band. Otherwise, the stripe of the ornament goes immediately after the elastic band of the sock, as in the attached photos.

As for those models that have patterns all over the surface, the following photos will show you some examples of such socks.

The final tutorial will show beginners how to knit socks with a double heel and a cable pattern along the entire length except the sole, heel and toe. In this case, the braids start from the cuff. We do the work in five with stocking needles number two. We cast on sixty-six loops and distribute them onto four knitting needles, after which we knit five Ps with a four-by-two elastic band. After the elastic band, from the sixth row we begin to knit braids, of which there is one large one in the center, and several small ones on the sides. A large braid needs to be twisted through twelve, and small ones through six rows, twice as often. Twisting the loops is done in the usual way, placing them on an additional knitting needle. First we knit the back Ps, and then those that were in front. We knit braids until we reach the heel. Knit the heel as shown in the video. After the heel, the braids remain only on the top of the toe.
