Festive table setting for the New Year. In recent years, we have also been preparing fish for the New Year. How to set the New Year's table: more red

The New Year's table is the very personification of the holiday. After all, behind it we sum up the results of the past year, make wishes for the new one, share gifts, smiles and joy with loved ones. And every year we look for new ideas to ensure that our table not only amazes with dishes, but is also elegantly served. After all, at a beautifully set table, a holiday truly becomes a holiday, and photographs from the celebration turn out to be very colorful.

Today we will talk about how to turn the holiday into a real fairy tale with the help of New Year's table setting! Our instructions consist of 6 steps and contain useful practical advice and a lot of photos.

Step 1. Decide on the color of the table decor

In the article we already said that most often the dominant color in the New Year's kitchen is red. It goes well with white, gray, silver and gold colors, and of course, someone else can play a worthy match with it New Year's color- green. Look how the table transforms with this color scheme! However, of course, you can choose any other color you love as the main theme of the New Year’s table, because everyone has their own special New Year and New Year’s taste. We have selected for you examples of the best table settings not only in the traditional red, white and green design, but also in other interesting color combinations.

Step 2. Lay out the tablecloth

Depending on the idea of celebrating the New Year, it can be elegant and patterned, or simple and plain - everything is in your hands! We advise you to take into account the shape and material of the table - for example, a linen table runner will look beautiful on a rectangular wooden table. If you have a round table, then pay attention to tablecloths with patterns or embroidery along the edges. In addition, the tablecloth can have an unusual print that can be combined with the decor on the table - take a look at the tablecloth with deer and how the idea of the forest is played out in dishes and souvenirs on the table. You shouldn’t completely abandon it, because even a simple white tablecloth will create a festive New Year’s mood if there are appropriate decorations on the table.

Step 3. Decorate the table

The decoration of the New Year's table can become a vivid reflection of the idea of celebration. What does New Year mean to you? Most bright holiday in a year when everything should sparkle and shine? Take a look at the photo, you will like the decor of the New Year's table with shimmering fir trees and silver candlesticks. Or is New Year one of the few days when you can spend time with your loved ones, and nothing should distract you from communicating with them? In this case, you will be satisfied with modestly standing decorative spruce trees on the table. In any case, the one thing you can’t do without when decorating a New Year’s table is candles. They can add enthusiasm, or, on the contrary, the feeling of a fairy tale, if lanterns serve as a candlestick, and spruce branches lie nearby. Don't forget about holly or rowan - these bright red berries can be used to decorate anything beautifully. If you have an abundance of Christmas tree balls, you can fill vases with them, or make improvised candlesticks from glasses, as in the photo below.

Advice: New Year is family holiday. Therefore, the whole family and especially children should take part in preparing for its celebration. With your little helpers, cut out snowflakes or stars from paper and hang them not only throughout the house, but also place them on a tablecloth in a contrasting color.

Step 4. Decorate the chairs

Setting the New Year's table is not limited to just one table, because we still need to “land” somewhere. And in decorating chairs there is certainly room for your imagination to run wild! Children will definitely love it New Year's hats, put on the back of a chair and from the deer behind you!

And we really like it when they use pine cones to decorate chairs, tying them on a bow.

Bows, by the way, can be the most different colors and sizes, because they fit any backrest. Chair with upholstered backrest can be wrapped elegant fabric and pin it with a large brooch.

Advice: To prevent the ribbons from falling off, glue them with wrong side double sided tape.

Many people attach mini New Year's wreaths to the back of their chairs.

Take a look at the photo to see how many options there can be for New Year's decoration of chairs! We will show many other ways to decorate chairs in another article.

Step 5. Serve the dishes

There's only one small thing left to do - you need to choose the dishes. The decor of the New Year's table implies traditional New Year's scenes: spruce trees, snow-covered landscapes, red and green checkered patterns, forest dwellers and everything that is associated with the New Year. Dishes with such scenes can be found today in any large hardware store.

Tips:

  • If you don’t plan to buy new dishes for just one day a year, then there are many ways to decorate your daily ones. By making a small stencil with your own hands and using permanent marker for decorating, you can get a beautiful holiday dish. You can do this with mugs too! Remember that the dish must then be “bake” in the oven for half an hour;

  • Well, if drawing is not your thing, then you can go the simple route and place sprigs of rosemary, beautiful Christmas tree balls or sweets on plates. For example, on the most ordinary plates, sweet New Year's sticks folded into a “heart” will look great. Another original way- this is to fold the dishes in the form of a snowman.

Step 6. Serving the cutlery

We've sorted out the dishes, but what about serving cutlery? Agree, do you want something more elegant than napkins folded into a diamond shape? How do you like the presentation of New Year's cutlery in the photo below? Musicians and those for whom New Year is invariably “The Nutcracker” will love a case made of musical notes. New Year's table setting cannot do without a sock, which is usually intended for gifts - you knit such covers yourself or buy ready-made ones, they will look charming! What can you say about mini mittens? For New Year theme In a rustic style, easy-to-make covers made of linen and lace are suitable. Using colored cardboard you can also make cute covers in the form of mini clothes.

Clue: If there is no time left to buy or make decorations for cutlery, the simplest option will help you out - cutlery wrapped in a disposable serving napkin and tied with twine or just a ribbon of New Year's colors.

We hope that with our simple tips And colorful photos Serving will become for you the most pleasant part of preparing for the most long-awaited and beloved holiday, and your loved ones will New Year's Eve They will be delighted not only by the delicious dishes, but also by their surroundings. What is the main thing about the New Year holidays? Not gifts and not a Christmas tree. And not even champagne. The main thing is the mood of miracle and magic. It is best “caught” in preparations, which in themselves are already part of the holiday and New Year’s magic.

We are in website We have collected simple and cute ideas for you that will help you create a mood and turn your New Year's Eve into a real holiday for family and guests.

Christmas tree napkins

Delicate greenery and garlands of light bulbs

A gentle and romantic mood will be created by coniferous plants in small pots or sprigs of gypsophila (all can be bought inexpensively at a flower shop) and a garland of large light bulbs.

Serving in the form of snowmen

Using plates, cutlery, a piece of carrot, olives and colored napkins, you can build a cute snowman in front of each guest.

Fir branches

Spruce, fir or juniper branches placed in the center of the table and decorated with candles are stylish and fragrant. By the way, as an alternative to candles, you can intertwine spruce branches with a luminous Christmas tree garland.

Apple candles

Paper snowflakes and candles in the snow

Another great idea is to place paper snowflakes on the table, complementing them with candles and pine cones. Please note: candles and cones are in jars with coarse salt, as if in snow. By the way, you can go even further and make a tablecloth out of snowflakes, fastening them together with small pieces of tape. Not very practical, but for one evening, to create a snowy-magical mood, it’s just right.

Personalized glasses with New Year's balls

If you have guests coming to dinner, it will be great to make festive personalized glasses for them - it seems like a small thing, but it’s nice. To do this, you need to cut out multi-colored Christmas tree balls with a slot from cardboard and write the guest’s name on each one.

List of New Year's entertainment

In the photo - an idea for children's party, but it is quite possible to transfer it to an adult party by drawing a list in front of each of the guests: write a wish on a piece of paper and eat it while the chimes are striking, dance on the table or tell Santa Claus a joke from a stool.

Glasses and balls

Why not bring together the symbols of the New Year - candles, balls and glasses, of course - and make bright, sparkling and iridescent candlesticks? In addition, the work here is about 2 minutes. And how cozy it will be to sit in this circle of warm flickering if you dim the overhead light in the room.

Candles and candlesticks of all shapes and sizes

Which will do a better job of creating New Year's mood than making a candlestick for a festive table with your own hands?

  • The “clothes” for the candles in the top left photo can be made from old sweaters (or specially knitted).
  • Floating candles look incredibly impressive in a dark room - frozen cranberries and sprigs from the flower shop will help you.
  • For the candle at the bottom left, I used a sheet from a music book, but you can take a beautiful magazine page or cardboard with a pattern and paste it over the jar.
  • Red and green - the colors of New Year and Christmas, and cranberry with spruce branches It will look very elegant.

Christmas trees

Multi-colored Christmas trees are a fun and elegant idea for table decoration. Such a grove can be made from cones of wrapping paper or assembled from truffle candies and toothpicks, to which triangles of cardboard or colored paper with a pattern (or just green ones) are attached with tape.

Cookies

To decorate the table, you can put on each guest’s plate a personalized cookie in the shape of a heart, a Christmas tree and a Christmas ball with the initial letter of his name.

Cute little things

Sometimes a detail is enough to create a mood. For example, paper snowflakes on the edge of a glass or ice fortress made of sugar cubes.

Orange decorations

Oranges and cloves will fill your home with a fresh and spicy aroma, and this combination of orange and brown looks very beautiful. You can simply decorate the oranges with clove stars that can be easily stuck into the skin. Or you can make candlesticks, like in the bottom photo. They are not difficult to make - first you need to cut the orange peel in half and carefully remove both halves with a spoon. For a detailed guide with photos, see this

On the New Year, the table should be laden with food and wine, so that life can be rich and cheerful all year long - this sign dates back to the reign of Peter 1.

The main New Year's dish from around the world.

Austria. Hungary. Superstitious residents of these countries believe that if you serve a bird at the festive table, then happiness can fly away. Traditional Austrian cuisine is rich in its delights. So, you can serve schnitzel, strudel at the holiday table, and you can also prepare traditional fish salad in Austrian style. In Hungary, it is customary to serve traditional bagels at the holiday table - poppy seed and nut rolls, which migrated from Jewish cuisine.

America. Ideaka is considered a traditional American dish. The turkey is stuffed with all the products that are “lying around” in the refrigerator. Usually these are cheese, garlic, prunes, apples, cabbage, beans, mushrooms, and spices.

Italy. In Italy, it is customary to serve grapes, nuts, and lentils at the New Year's table as a symbol and guarantee of longevity, health and prosperity.

England. Not a single traditional New Year's holiday in England is complete without plumpudding, which consists of lard, bread crumbs, flour, raisins, eggs and spices. Before serving, the pudding is poured with rum and set on fire, which makes the holiday even brighter. It is also traditional to serve stuffed turkey, but unlike American turkey, it is cooked with vegetables and gooseberry sauce. Turkey with vegetables counts traditional dish and delights guests at any celebration.

Japan. On December 30, the pre-holiday table always includes mochi - small cakes made from boiled rice, which are made with fruit and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Long noodles must be present on the New Year's holiday table. The longer it is, the longer the life of the participants in the feast will be. Tables often contain seaweed, fried chestnuts, peas, beans, and boiled fish; these ingredients are the key to happiness, success in business, health, and tranquility.

Belgium. In Belgium they eat veal sausage with truffles, boar meat, traditional cake, and wine.

Spain, Portugal. In many countries - Spain, Portugal, Cuba - the grapevine has been considered a symbol of abundance and a happy family hearth since ancient times. Therefore, the inhabitants of these countries eat twelve grapes at midnight when the clock strikes, according to the number of strokes of the clock. Make a wish with each grape - twelve cherished desires for every month of the year. Not bad, right?!

Israel. It is important to note that in Israel the New Year is celebrated in September. New Year festive table residents of Israel has a number of its own rules. The main rule is that bitter, sour and salty dishes are kept away. The table is set with sweet dishes. Also on the table are usually honey, dates, pomegranates and apples. Challah - a holiday pastry - is dipped in honey. This tradition is followed by many people. In this way, the Israelis “sweeten” the coming year. Boiled fish, baked apples, cabbage, and beets are also served on the festive table.

Poland. In Poland, you can count exactly twelve dishes on the New Year's table. And not just meat! Mushroom soup or borscht, barley porridge with prunes, dumplings with butter, chocolate cake for dessert. A must-have dish is fish. In many countries it is considered a symbol of family happiness and prosperity.

In recent years, we have also been preparing fish for the New Year.

Germany. Herring is considered an integral and symbolic dish of the German holiday table. It is believed that herring will definitely bring happiness in the coming year. Traditional and no less important dishes on the holiday table are Sauerkraut - stewed sauerkraut with sausages, Eisbein - boiled pork knuckle and, of course, many types of German sausages. (each region has its own varieties).

Holland. On the Dutch holiday table you will definitely find deep-fried donuts and salted beans - one of the main national dishes - especially for the New Year. In France, a traditional New Year's table is not complete without roasted chestnuts, oysters, beautifully decorated sandwiches with goose pate, cheeses and, of course, French wine.

Denmark. Cod is considered the main New Year's holiday dish for the Danes. This dish symbolizes happiness and wealth. Lutefiks, a fish dish made from dried cod, is always served on the Swedish holiday table.

What New Year's dishes were served in Rus'?

Many dishes were made from pork. More prosperous peasants placed a roasted pig at the center of the table. There is a historical connection here with the cult of sacrifice of the ancient Slavs and the fertility of the pig. Overall the food was filling and healthy. The owners took out prepared sausages from the cellars, and the housewives baked pies and pancakes for guests and carolers. Somewhat later, in aristocratic houses, foreign gourmet dishes began to be placed on the tables. To prepare dishes from France, Germany and Italy, they ordered good cooks and cooks, masters of their craft. The French court chef surpassed everyone in culinary inventions, dedicating his masterpiece to Empress Catherine II herself. This roast is commonly known as “Empress”.

This New Year's dish cost a lot of money and required real skill from the cooks. According to the recipe, initially it was necessary to insert pieces of anchovy into good fleshy olives, the olives were used to prepare the stuffing for the gutted lark, after which it should be stuffed inside the gutted fat partridge, and put it into the cooked pheasant. The final outer wrapper was a juicy pig. Later, the recipe for the New Year's treat was discovered by one court nobleman, and from his kitchen it spread to others. Gather guests for New Year's table it got so hot business card for aristocrats.

But the imperial cuisine was fundamentally different from the royal one. Peter I, intending to destroy the boyar antiquity, sent swans and peacocks into oblivion.

If under Alexei Mikhailovich, even the royal children sometimes ate from tin or wooden bowls, then in St. Petersburg, not only in the Winter Palace, but also in many royal houses, silver, gold, and porcelain dishes were soon introduced according to European protocol . Instead of kvass, they began to serve lemonade with a straw, instead of printed gingerbread, elegant sugar cookies, instead of saffron milk caps, truffles, instead of “roasted chicken” - shio turkey. One can imagine how these transformations upset the emperor himself - Pyotr Alekseevich loved most of all sour cabbage soup, roast with buckwheat porridge, pickles and simple Russian vodka. But the situation obliged. Like this!

Does your family have a traditional holiday dish?!

That's all, friends! While I was preparing the article, my appetite worked up! Let's go get something to eat 🙂 🙂 🙂

Have a nice New Year's Eve everyone!

Best regards, Tatyana!

People prepare for the coming New Year with special trepidation. Not only is it thought through holiday menu, but also an important component is setting the New Year’s table, at which guests and hosts are seated. And this is not the first year that the New Year’s table has been decorated according to the rules of the Eastern calendar. Color and tastes are taken into account ruling the year animal, priorities in food.

Color design

When starting to decorate the room and set the table, you should adhere to uniform style. In the Year of the Dog, shades of colors that focus on naturalness are preferred.

And the right choice would be the color design of the New Year’s table in the following tones:

  • green;
  • brown;
  • yellow;
  • sandy;
  • beige;
  • golden;
  • white.

Shades of khaki and marsala will also come in handy. But both dark, gloomy and flashy tones should not be present. If such a palette seems strict and pale to the owners, it is diluted with bright accents, for example, red.

If the furniture tabletop is made of wood or material in shades of wood, eco-style will support the color tone of the New Year's table. Then there is no need to cover the table with a tablecloth, which corresponds to this style.

New Year's decoration options

There are quite a lot of them. Here are examples that you can take note of.

  • Minimalism and grace - for those who celebrate the New Year in a narrow circle. Cutlery for each participant in the celebration is placed around the circle, square or rectangle of the table. The middle of the tabletop is occupied by a composition of decorations and candles. The color accompaniment of this style will be supported by beige, red, green, brown, white, gold.

  • White and gold decoration, although traditional, is still attractive to many celebrating the New Year. Candles and dishes are selected white or in shades of milky and beige, which will add warmth to the atmosphere. Elements of pastel, gold and green tones will provide light and purity. Wooden objects, metal candlesticks, edging on plates and utensils are “friends” with them.

  • Fans of fantasy options can combine to create festive atmosphere various textures and colors. There should be 3-4 of the latter to avoid unnecessary variegation. Dishes are preferably plain or with an unobtrusive ornament. Napkins are selected to match the tablecloth, decorations - in accordance with the general style of the New Year's surroundings.

  • In a living room with many wooden objects, it is appropriate to decorate a table made of wood. In this case, the dishes are displayed simple, giving off a soft shine. A large number of candles will create the illusion of a fireplace fire. Tablecloth and napkins made of natural fabrics - in warm milky, beige, burgundy, brick, green shades.

  • The white and red color combination will also create a festive atmosphere for the New Year. The contrast of cold white and hot red will be softened by warm candlelight. Especially if the overhead lighting is dim or absent altogether. The white and red background will be diluted with yellow tones and a combination of cold and warm tones.

Tablecloth

You need to celebrate the New Year at a table covered with a tablecloth suitable for the celebration. Choose a canvas in accordance with the size of the tabletop in priority color scheme. The best option There will be a tablecloth made of thick fabric in one tone or 2-3 copies of different tones. You can also use tablecloths in subdued colors.

One option would be linen or burlap. The brocade covering looks spectacular and rich. If you choose a silk tablecloth, you are likely to encounter an unstable position of the dishes on the table. Silk has a sliding property, and everything placed on the table will move.

There are many variations for tablecloths on the table:

  • The classic arrangement is relevant at all times. At the same time, light fabric will add more light to the room, muted warm and natural tones will bring a touch of coziness to the room.
  • A rectangular tablecloth laid diagonally looks impressive on a round, standard table. The highlight of this option will be the combination of contrasting canvases or shades of the same tone.
  • The covering looks original, similar to a carpet. In this case, the tablecloth is taken with a width that slightly does not reach the side edges of the tabletop.
  • A striking background for dishes and food is achieved with the help of 2 tablecloths. The basic one (in beige, cream or sand) covers the entire table. Auxiliary - a bright tone (for example, red, green) and the same length as the first, but a width not exceeding 3/4 of the main one.

The most suitable material for a tablecloth is a smooth or fleecy fabric suitable color. White is also quite suitable, but it is more suitable for a spacious, brightly lit room. As well as tablecloths that are too light, against which the festive appearance of dishes and cutlery is lost in the twilight.

Napkins

Ready-made colorful napkins with New Year's scenes will help out any housewife. You don’t need to do anything with them, these attributes are beautiful as is. But if the options, fabric or paper, are made in the same color, the beauty and originality of the design will not interfere with them.

The simplest thing is to decorate napkins with special rings made of wood, metal, paper or ribbons. You can decorate the rings with small ones Christmas decorations, depicting the symbol New Year's holiday.

But there is a temptation to make shapes from napkins to match the New Year. Variants of Christmas trees are most often used for folding. One of them is easy to do. You will need a napkin folded in four. From the intended median fold, a triangle is formed from 1/2 to the left, which must be bent in half by pressing along the midline. Do the same with 1/2 of the napkin on the right. You will get a wavy Christmas tree. It needs to be put on a plate.

From a napkin folded in four corners you can make a candle into a wave. The cone-shaped workpiece should be rolled starting from the base. Place the candle on a plate, straightening the waves.

If there are children at the table, they decorate 2 napkins rolled into a tube with gold Christmas tree bells. When unfolding a napkin, children hear a magical ringing sound.

There are many options for folding napkins. It is important that these festive attributes are combined with the tablecloth. Which of them to prefer, fabric or paper, is decided by the hospitable hostess. And don’t forget about the functional purpose of napkins.

Very important: There are symbols of the year according to the Eastern calendar that do not like pretentiousness. Echoing their tastes, they simply attach tinsel to the edges of each napkin and place it in the shape of a triangle on a serving plate.

Dishes

After the tablecloth is laid out, it’s time to arrange the dishes. The set includes a variety of options. These include:

  • portion plates;
  • cutlery (preferably silver or with a silver tint) for different dishes;
  • glasses;
  • glasses;
  • wine glasses.

It is preferable to use simple, no-frills, but beautifully decorated dishes for the New Year's feast. The priority is the rounded shapes of the specimens. The color design should not be too bright or dark. Using several shades and different textures and shapes in dishes will achieve a lasting effect. On the table for the coming year, the best tableware variations will be clay, semi- and porcelain, wood and items made of thick colored glass.

It is permissible to tie cutlery with ribbons in the favorite colors of the animal - the ruler of the year. This will give the overall composition on the table some chic. In addition, this will make it easier for the housewife to replace used appliances with clean ones.

The main wide plate should be beautiful and with a New Year's theme (the rest of the plates are placed on it when changing dishes). It's good if it's a service. But in the absence of this, a set in white will help out, which is temporarily easy to transform using stickers, foil, and glitter.

There is definitely no place on the New Year's table for plastic, broken and not washed to a shine. All intact dishes should sparkle clean and reflect festive illumination on the surface.

You need to place dishes on the table according to the number of guests with the hosts. If there are not enough items from one set, it is better to supplement with copies that are close in similarity to those in the main set. The size of all items must accommodate food without cluttering the space. It is important to arrange the dishes with prepared dishes so that everyone can easily take everything they need.

Decor elements

Properly organized decor also creates a festive atmosphere. In this case, it is also worth choosing natural colors and materials. But you don’t have to give up shine either. Here, the helpers are, first of all, garlands, sparklers, as well as sources of natural light. Fire can come from fireplaces. But since few people have them, candles are becoming an alternative.

Comfort and magic are achieved by arrangement large quantity candles of different sizes. Massive and thin candles in candlesticks made of metal, glass, and ceramics will add mystery to the room. The tonality of the attributes is preferable to simple and clean, for example, milky, burgundy. Metallic shades such as copper, gold, and silver are not excluded.

When setting the table, small candles are placed next to the cutlery of everyone celebrating the New Year. Several large candles are placed in the center of the table: their fire resembles a fireplace, such a hearth unites and “warms”. You can also place candles around the table on cabinets and shelves, not forgetting about fire safety.

Small figurines of the symbol of the coming year are used as decoration on the table. And, for example, if this is a Dog, it would be appropriate to depict it soft toys and figurines. They should be supplemented with figures of bones and favorite delicacies of this animal. Wooden elements, plants, dried flowers, berries, clove stars, vanilla sticks and, of course, sprigs of coniferous trees (spruce, pine, fir, cedar) will enhance the elegance of the table setting. Decorating the table with Christmas tree decorations, beads, and garlands creates a shimmering background on the table for the New Year's feast.

Accessories should make up a thematic picture of the feast. Their presence in reasonable quantities should not interfere with the arrangement of plates with holiday dishes, appetizers, and desserts. According to safety rules, flammable dried flowers and tinsel should be placed away from candle fire.

Very important: When decorating a table for the New Year, it is wise to adhere to the advice “don’t overdo it.” And, instead of piling up complex compositions, it is better to limit yourself to a few. These can be low trays with pine cones, spruce branches, tangerines, candles. It is preferable to place New Year's ikebana in the middle of the table on a wide gold ribbon.

Serving rules

When setting the New Year's table and arranging dishes, the priority is to take care of the comfort of the guests. Cutlery must be placed in accordance with the rules of etiquette. The number of items should be equal to the number of invitees and hosts.

A beautiful, shiny table setting should be comfortable and functional. And since dishes are the main attribute for eating New Year’s dishes, they are placed at the edges of the table. The plates are placed in a stack, with glasses and forks nearby.

The serving rules provide for the following sequence:

  • the tablecloth hangs 30-35 cm at its ends on all sides;
  • napkins folded into a triangle or rolled into a tube are placed on each set of plates;
  • The plates are placed in the order in which the dishes are planned to be served. And if the main plate is at the beginning, the appetizer plate is placed on it. In this case, all such dishes are placed 2 cm from the edge of the table;
  • cutlery is placed based on certain standards. The fork, tines up, is placed to the left of the plate. The knife is placed on the right, with its tip facing the plate. Dessert spoons are placed on the right side of the knife, with the scoop down;
  • glasses and shot glasses will take place to the right of the plates and in the order in which the drinks are to be served. At the same time, placed glasses should not be an obstacle to the use of cutlery;
  • The salt and pepper shakers are placed in the center of the table in special stands. To these vessels it would be a good idea to add a bowl of mustard, sauces, and butter;
  • vases with flowers - they should be provided on a large table according to the number of bouquets. The replacement will be a small bouquet near the cutlery for each person sitting at the table. It is necessary to ensure that the flowers do not fall off and do not block the dishes from the guests;
  • It is better to repeat cold appetizers on dishes in the middle of the tabletop at opposite ends of the table so that those celebrating the New Year can independently reach these dishes.

When serving a buffet, meat, fish, and vegetable dishes are arranged in groups. Food is prepared in such a way that it can be easily picked up with a fork and eaten without using a knife. And these are all kinds of canapés, tartlets, and slices.

Decoration and proper serving of dishes

When decorating the table, moderation should be taken so as not to interfere with the arrangement of dishes prepared appetizingly and decorated with taste. But even the usual cutting turns into table decoration for the New Year. And there are several rules that will help make your dishes unique.

The products are cut very thinly with a slicer or a sharp knife.
When choosing combinations of products, they are guided by the tastes of the owners. But you should not combine too juicy and dried ingredients to prevent the juice from changing the taste.

Compliance with the color compatibility of the cutting components will allow you to create a beautiful compositional display.

There are plenty of options for laying out chopped products. Here are some of them:

  • a fruit plate is made from round oranges with peel and peeled tangerines laid out in rows along the edges of the dish, the middle is given to kiwi “flowers”. Fill the dish in a circle from the edge to the center, alternating an ingredient of one shade with one of a different shade;
  • Taking a rectangular dish in the shape of a “turtle”, place the taken products on it in rows, with one product occupying its own row. For decoration, take lemon slices, cranberries, sprigs of fresh dill;
  • both the cheese with the filling and the ham and sausage make wonderful rolls, fastened with a skewer - they charge a meal for it.

You can surprise your guests by building a Christmas tree ikebana, where pine branches depict sliced cheese, cucumber, and sausage. The tasty “pine needles” are threaded onto a skewer attached to the center of the dish. Fruit “paws” of spruce are obtained from lemon, grapefruit, and kiwi. Moss under such “Christmas trees” is depicted with contrasting colors of chopped vegetables and fruits, berries and pomegranate seeds.

Well-known options are used for decorating salads. From suitable products a Christmas tree, a hedgehog, a dog, and a New Year's clock are created.

If you don’t have time, then the following techniques will help out:

  • Cut the red bell pepper into 2 equal parts and remove the seeds. Each half is placed on the prepared salad, skin side out, resulting in “bells”. The “tongues” are made from green onion feathers; the top of the salad ellipse is decorated with sprigs of dill.
  • The “clock” with arrows is made on a flat surface of the lettuce. On its circumference it is enough to draw the numbers 3, 6, 9, 12, the rest are indicated by olives. For the arrows, ingredients that are “at hand” are selected.
  • Many salads are served in a mixed, uneven form. To decorate them, use the yolk of a boiled egg, grated, pomegranate granules, and cranberry berries. The salad surface is simply generously sprinkled with one of these components.

But the most accessible ways to decorate a salad are slices of the ingredients that make up the salad dish and greens. It’s not difficult to make a rose from a sausage (tomato) and add a leaf of green salad. You can decorate a separate piece of salad cake this way.

What's hot

As for hot dishes, even before preparing it, you should think about the decor. Especially if the food is made mixed, such as pilaf or roast. For a traditional oven-baked goose, papillotes on the feet and apples, pears, lemons for garnishing the bird, and sprigs of fresh herbs are suitable. Don’t forget about shaped carrots, beets, cucumbers, and fruits.

If the side dish is served separately, it is worth preparing multi-colored mashed potatoes and making a mound out of it. Natural dyes will be used for this. vegetable juices. Do the same with pasta, which is better to make yourself.

Whipped cream and sour cream do a good job of decorating dishes. A “cap” of these salted products will add zest to the dish or take the place of sauce.

Fresh fruit on a large platter (possibly in several tiers), natural juice poured into sparkling transparent carafes - these products will bring New Year's table setting memories of childhood. And an integral part of the New Year - tangerines are good both on a separate dish and as a basis for assorted fruits.

The abundance and variety of delicious dishes and drinks is an indispensable condition for creating good mood guests. Priority on the table will be cooked variations of meat and meat components in salads, sandwiches, and cold cuts. Vegetables, fruits and small snacks will complement the picture of the celebration.

Dishes are served in the required sequence. Those celebrating the New Year should have unlimited access to them. Objects and food are arranged taking into account the needs of everyone sitting at the table.

A multi-story tiered dish will help out in the case of a convenient and ceremonial arrangement of sweets and fruits. It will also save space on your desk.

Appetizers “for one tooth” are best served with skewers decorated with images of the symbol of the year.

You need to attach a name plate to each napkin - this will make it easier for guests to sit at the table. Plates on each plate (next to it) with images of an animal - the ruler of the coming year - are also appropriate.

It wouldn’t hurt to give each guest a present in the form of a miniature animal made of wood, fabric, or clay. A gift wrapped in gold packaging can also be placed next to each guest’s personal plate.

The first night of the year is celebrated at a beautifully decorated and served table. And the variety of hearty and tasty dishes will predict an abundance of food all year round.
