Crochet hat for a boy: knitting pattern using winter patterns as an example. A selection of crocheted earflap hats for women. Crocheting a women's earflap hat. Pattern description.

My son needed a hat for the winter. Dad categorically said that it should be a boy’s style, earflaps, for example, and without any pom-poms. I had to think and this is the result of my thoughts and labors.
I used Richard Simon PAULA 100% polyester yarn (50 g/115 m) for the bottom hat (it took a little more than one skein), for the top hat VITA Scarlett (49% wool, 51% acrylic; 100 g/225 m) it also took a little more one skein. Hook No. 3.5, age 2 years, head circumference 48 cm.
I selected the color scheme to match the winter suit.

First, I knitted the bottom hat without ears according to the size of my head. Knitted by general principle crochet hats, single crochets. First, a circle with a diameter equal to the exhaust gas divided by 3. Then straight without increments to the desired depth of the cap. Then, having put the hat on my son, I measured the circumference of his head, it turned out to be 4 cm larger than without a hat. This means that the top hat needs to be knitted based on this, for a head circumference of 52 cm. The top cap stretches well, so I reduced the diameter of the bottom by 1 cm.

The top cap is knitted with embossed double crochets; the pattern is obtained by alternating knit and purl stitches. I have already made a description for a similar hat with a slightly more complex pattern. Right here
The main thing is to understand the principle. Eight wedges, alternating knit stitches and purl stitches, making increases according to the rules of knitting a circle to the bottom diameter we need. Then we knit straight, alternating a series of strips of embossed knit and purl double crochets to the desired depth of the cap. I measured it for the bottom hat on my son.

Then, again during fitting, we mark on the top hat the location of the ears and the lapel in the center. We knit them in single crochets, first on the top hat. Immediately, without breaking the thread, we make ties, a chain of air loops, then we use connecting posts to return back along this chain, break the thread, and hide the tails.
Then we knit the ears and lapel on the bottom hat, making them a little larger than the top ones, literally one loop from each edge. Always checking the position with the top cap, keep in mind that the top cap stretches very well due to the pattern.

When the ears and lapel are ready, we tie the entire bottom hat around the edge with double crochets. In places where there will be corners (connection of the ears, lapel and main fabric, corners of the lapel and ears), we knit 3 double crochets from one loop. And carefully sew the bottom hat to the top one, bending the bottom hat slightly onto the top one, it will fit well due to the binding. Thread the ties between the double crochets of the bottom hat. Sew the lapel to the hat.
The hat turned out to be very cozy and warm. My son enjoys dressing it up.

Nothing will warm you up like knitted hat with earflaps. Let's look at a master class on knitting a hat with earflaps for women, let's try to knit a male and a children's model of such a headdress for a boy and a girl. Scheme and step-by-step photos are attached.

Master class on knitting hats with earflaps for women

A women's hat is knitted from one skein of thread. Although it all depends on the knitted density of the hat with earflaps. You will also need knitting needles number 3, which will make the product quite dense and warm. If you are comfortable working with circular knitting needles, then use them.

The knitting master class for women will begin with a set of six stitches from which garter stitch is made. In new lines, the links should be increased by one piece on both sides. Continue knitting until the number of links increases from six to twenty. There is no need to make additions after this. Continue to complete the master class until the length of the eyelet that you need. The photo shows this stage of work.

Then the main part of the product begins. To do this, cast on seventeen buttonholes with knitting needles, then grab twenty pieces for the first eye, and then there are thirty-seven pieces of the central part and twenty loops of the second eye. Add 17 additional buttonholes. The four stripes need to be knitted again using garter stitch. The number of stripes should be equal to the depth of the hat with earflaps. You can do knitting like knitting. loops, and the pattern you like. In the photo you can see the knitted star pattern. For beginning needlewomen, this pattern will be very easy to repeat. In each line you need to knit 2 faces. p., then 3 p. are performed as one knit stitch, yarn over and knit 1 again. etc. Such manipulations must be performed to the very end, completing the row with a purl loop.

Now let's start knitting the upper part of the hat with earflaps. The master class involves knitting only faces. loops, as well as reducing them on the sides. Simply put, you must knit the loops together until their total number reaches thirteen. After this, you need to pull them together and make a connecting seam on the back of the hat. The lapel of the headdress is very simple to do. Cast on thirty-three loops along the edge of the frontal part of the product and tie them face down to the desired height, as shown in the photo.

For beauty, make 2 stitches in the last lapel strip and close the links. Decorate the hat with knitted flowers. As you have already seen, a hat with earflaps for women is very simple and quick to make.

Men's hat with earflaps, knitted

The next master class will teach you how to knit a men's earflap hat. The scheme of work will also appeal to beginning needlewomen. In your work, use yarn consisting of wool and acrylic, as well as knitting needles number 4. Garter stitch is performed by alternating knit and purl rows with knit stitches.

Cast on twelve links and knit in the manner described above, adding one piece to each strip on both sides until you have twenty buttonholes. Next, knit 16 r. in a straight line. Start a new row by casting on eight buttonholes, and then knitting another twenty-two rows in a straight line. Set the work aside and complete the second eyelet in the same way.

To knit the visor, you need to cast on twenty-two loops and also make the pattern described above, adding two pieces to each strip on both sides. You should have a total number of buttonholes - thirty pieces. Then knit twenty-six r. in a straight line, as shown in the photo.

The men's hat with earflaps is not finished yet. You also need to connect the blanks according to this diagram: the right ear with the visor and with the left ear. Knit straight forty r. In the first strip, you should cross the loops at their junctions to avoid the formation of holes. Then make a uniform decrease in every 2 r. seven buttonholes each. You should have nine left. Pull them together with thread, and then make a seam by bending the visor. The edges of the earflap hat should be crocheted with single crochets. This completes the master class, and a simple men's earflap hat is completely ready.

Knitting a baby hat

A children's hat with earflaps is knitted for a boy in the same way as for a girl. The only difference is in the choice of yarn color, as well as in creating a beautiful decor that little fashionistas love. Therefore, we offer you a short lesson on knitting a headdress for a boy. The children's work scheme will be clear even to beginners.

Cast on seventy-two buttonholes using size 3 needles. Next, knit an elastic band two by two. Its height should be fifteen centimeters. Then knit 3 purls together in the new strip. p. Then knit 2 knits together. p. You should have an elastic band one on one. In the fifth row, follow the pattern according to the drawing. In the sixth, you need to knit all the buttonholes in two pieces. Transfer unused links to an additional tool and tighten them.

For the ears, you need to cast on five pieces with knitting needles number 4 and knit using the garter method. In the third, fifth, seventh, ninth and eleventh row, add 1 stitch on each side. Then knit fifteen lines again in garter stitch. Having put one workpiece aside, proceed to the second. Between the finished ears, you should cast on ten yarn overs and switch to knitting needles number 3. In the first line, add 3 stitches from each side and knit a two-by-two elastic band. Having completed four centimeters, close the links.

The boy's hat is not finished yet. The last thing to do is the visor. The visor must be made with double thread. Cast on 25 stitches and make garter stitch eight centimeters. Make decreases in the last strip, and then close the buttonholes. All that remains is to sew all the hat blanks, and we can assume that the boy’s headdress is ready. We invite you to watch the video material from which you will learn how to knit a winter hat with earflaps for a boy.

For many foreigners, the earflap hat evokes direct associations with the winter clothing of Russians. And although you can rarely see a person wearing this type of headdress on city streets, its convenience and comfort cannot be underestimated. As the name suggests, this type of hat has “ears” that allow you to reliably shelter from the most severe frost. And on warmer days, to keep the “ears” out of the way, they are raised up and tied in a bow on the top of the head. Nowadays, earflaps have become fashion accessory, so it can be made from the most different materials: dear natural fur, fleece or angora. Why not make a knitted earflap hat yourself? You definitely won’t find such a stylish headdress in any store. Even if it doesn’t provide as much warmth as a lined fur hat, a knitted earflap will definitely attract everyone’s attention. Photos of knitted earflaps will help you catch inspiration and easily make them original accessory, as well as diagrams and step-by-step MKs.

Making a knitted earflap hat: photos, diagrams, step-by-step instructions

For making women's hats-earflaps you will need:
  • one skein of yarn of any color (it is better to choose a dense yarn that holds its shape well)
  • knitting needles No. 3 (you can take both regular and circular knitting needles)
  • sewing needle

In principle, this model can also be crocheted, and it will look no worse.

How to knit a women's earflap hat:

1) We begin our master class by casting eight loops onto knitting needles, from which garter stitch will then be made. In each subsequent level it is necessary to increase the number of loops by one on both the right and left sides. According to this pattern, we continue to knit until the number of loops on the knitting needles reaches 22. Next, we stop making increases and knit evenly using the garter method until the length of the workpiece corresponds to the length of the future “ear” of the hat. The photo below shows the finished “ears” after this stage is completed.

2) Let’s move on to making the main part of the hat with earflaps. Without removing the finished “ears” from the knitting needles, we cast on nineteen more new loops, grab all the loops from the upper part of the “ear”, then knit another 39 loops (this will be the middle zone) and all the loops of the second “ear”. We get 19 more missing loops.

3) The next six levels are done in garter stitch. Please note that the number of levels depends on the depth of the hat you plan to make; if necessary, try on the blank.

4) The main part of the hat can be knitted in any way: either stockinette stitch, or any fantasy pattern. In this master class we present to you a star-shaped pattern that looks very winter-like, but at the same time is not at all difficult even for inexperienced knitters. Each level of this pattern is knitted according to the following pattern: two knit stitches, then three loops are knitted into one knit stitch, one yarn over and another knit stitch. We continue to repeat this until the end of the level and finish it with a purl loop.

5) Let’s move on to designing the top of the earflap hat. We will knit it in stockinette stitch, and make the necessary decreases on the right and left sides. This means that the levels are knitted together until the number of loops in them reaches 15 pieces. After this, we remove the knitting needles and tighten the loops together using a special needle. At the back you need to sew a neat seam using the same yarn.

6) There should be a beautiful lapel on the forehead of the hat with earflaps. To make it, we cast on thirty-five stitches along the edge of the product, and knit with stockinette stitch a piece of the length that you want the lapel to be. To make the lapel look more elegant, in its last level you can make two decreasing loops from the right and left edges - you will get rounded edges.

7) You can decorate a women’s earflap hat to your liking: sew on knitted flowers, rhinestones or beads for the lapel. You can make cute tassels or pom-poms at the ends of the ties.

We knit warm hats with earflaps for children for every day

A man's hat with earflaps these days may seem quite a bold decision, but fashionistas know that it will become a real highlight of the winter wardrobe. Bright hats go well with sportswear, while plain ones will help add a little relaxation to office everyday life.

An interesting option is to knit a hat in the “aviator” style, that is, similar to flight helmets. To do this, it must be made of smooth dark yarn and lined with matching fur.

One more interesting model- This is a kind of hybrid of earflaps and a baseball cap, a hat with both a visor and “ears.” One of the advantages of this option is its undoubted ease of use, since the visor will protect from snow and the “ears” from frost.

Fluffy hat for girls

In the photo there is a hat with earflaps for a girl, in which “Travka” yarn is used for finishing.
A children's hat begins with the calculation of the loops. Their total number should be divided by 4, plus 4 pcs. The main pattern is double elastic. Knitting from the cast-on row to the beginning of the formation of the crown continues with this particular pattern.

When there are 5-7 cm left to the end, we put marks and divide the canvas into 4 parts.

From each division loop we make decreases before and after.

We knit 3 stitches together through a row. You should now have 4 wedges. The base is ready.

Now we turn it over and from the bottom side, in those places where the ears and visor should be, we collect loops.

The size of the visor and ears depends on your preferences and the size of your child's head. Of course, any master will not forget to round them to the bottom.

The earflaps look just great. You can appreciate this in the photo above. If the ears will be tied at the top, sew on the laces.
