Knitting pattern for men's socks, size 42. Couple men's socks knitted. Master Class! How to knit men's socks with knitting needles

Friends, I recently finished some socks for my beloved and I want to write down how to knit men’s socks. In fact, there is no difference in knitting technology, be it men's socks or women's socks. The only difference is in size, and in the pattern or color scheme.

For knitting men's socks I used size 42 yarn “Krokha” from the Trinity factory. I like this thread... Although it is not wool, it is warm, knits well, and is pleasant to the body. And it's relatively inexpensive.

Besides, I have quite a lot of it in leftovers...

It took about 100 grams to knit the socks. thread (2 skeins different color). I wanted a fun color, so I knitted striped socks...

Knitting needles No. 2 - a set of 5 pieces, they are also called sock needles and another knitting needle of the same size (for convenience)

How to knit men's socks with knitting needles

First of all, we cast on 56 loops and distribute them equally across 4 knitting needles, i.e. 14 loops on each knitting needle. I picked up the loops in knots.

When knitting men's socks, you need to use warm, durable knitting needles so that they fit the leg well and are decorated with a discreet pattern. I propose to knit men's socks in the classic way on five stocking needles oh, with a “braid” pattern that tightens the fabric like an elastic band, so the socks will fit snugly around your feet. To make the socks durable, you should strengthen the heel and toe; for this, use a strong additional thread when knitting these sections.

Description of knitting men's socks for foot size 42:

Yarn for knitting socks can be used with any composition - wool mixture or 100% acrylic, you will need about 75 g. medium thickness yarn, 5 knitting needles No. 2.5 and an additional knitting needle for braids. To knit a reinforced heel and toe, take any strong fine yarn, you can use cotton threads.

Knitting men's socks is based on the classic method using 5 double needles. To start knitting a sock on 4 knitting needles, cast on 18 stitches, for a total of 72 stitches. Close the first and last knitting needle with the cast-on loops into a ring and continue knitting in the round.

Knit the first circular row with a 2x2 rib pattern, alternating 2 knit stitches and 2 purl stitches. Next, when knitting in a circle with an elastic pattern, in the next rows, over the front loops, knit 2 front loops according to the pattern and over the purl ones - 2 purl loops. Knit a 2x2 elastic band for the sock cuff to a length of 3 cm.

Then continue knitting with a 4x2 elastic band, alternately performing 4 knit stitches and 2 purl stitches in the first row. In the next rows, knit the pattern in a circle according to the pattern, knit knit stitches above the knit stitches, and purl stitches above the purl stitches.

After 6 rows, make weaves through one track of knit stitches, crossing 2x2 knit stitches into small “braids”. To do this, remove the first 2 knit stitches onto an additional knitting needle, leave them before work, knit the next 2 knit stitches, then knit the loops from the additional knitting needle. Knit another 6 rows with a 4x2 elastic band, then make weaves in the front rows you skipped last time, then the “braids” in the pattern will be staggered. Do alternate weaves every 6 rows. Knit the cuff to the desired length, 12-15 cm.

The heel for the sock is knitted using the classic method. First, attach an additional thread to the main thread to strengthen the knitting. Start knitting the heel of the sock by knitting stitches only from two knitting needles in straight and reverse rows = 36 loops, knitting on front side knit stitches, purl loops on the wrong side. Always remove edge loops to form a chain around the edge.

Knit the heel to a height of 6 cm, then divide all the loops into 3 parts, 12 loops each. Next, knit only the central 12 loops, also stockinette stitch. Always remove the first loop without knitting, and place the thread on the front side behind the work, on the wrong side - in front of the work. Always knit the last 12th loop of the central part together with the first loop from the side part, on the wrong side knit 2 purls together, on the front side - 2 knits together with a broach. Decrease until all the stitches on the sides of the heel are completed, leaving only the central 12.

Many home and business girls are wondering how to knit men's socks. Today we will figure out how to do this and what is required for this. For some reason, it is generally believed that knitting men's socks for beginners is very difficult, but in fact this is not the case.

If you want to knit men's socks for someone, then before doing this you need to find out the shoe size or measure the foot with a special tape. There is a formula by which the shoe size is divided by 3 and multiplied by 2. Using these calculations, you can easily calculate the foot size of adults. For example, if a man has a leg size of 42, then his foot will be 28.

First you need take five needles number 4 and two types of yarn. You can choose any yarn, but we will take brown and gray. We cast on 52 loops. When knitting wool socks, the number of stitches should be a multiple of 4.

Description of knitting men's socks

We start knitting with a set of loops, then distribute them onto 4 knitting needles. If you have chosen some kind of pattern to decorate your socks, remember that it must be stopped somewhere a few centimeters in front of the heel, otherwise a hole will appear there.

To tie your heel, the loops from the two knitting needles that attach the front part are combined and transferred to one.

They can be pulled out with a pin, because for some time they will not be needed for work. The loops from the two remaining knitting needles need to be divided into three even parts. If you are unable to separate them evenly, then try to keep track of the side parts.

The principle of knitting the heel is that only the part of the knitting located in the center is involved in the work. The side parts are also involved in knitting, but in a different sense.

Starting from the edge there is a report of the side loops made. Without finishing the last one, you should connect it with the first loop of the central part and attach the combined front part. Then the work turns around.

We repeat the same steps, only this time with purl loops. The combined loop is also knitted inside out. All these steps are repeated until only loops from the central part remain on the knitting needles.

The next steps are: a set of additional loops is the same as before the reduction.

After creating the heel, take the sole of the sock. Having completed this stage, you should try the sock on the foot of the future owner. After this, near the little finger you need to start reducing the number of loops by knitting combined ones, instead of the last two in each row. Each time our sock narrows in diameter and the last few loops are closed.

Advantages and disadvantages of knitting and crochet

If you can't decide whether to start knitting or crocheting, you should read this. If you interview needlewomen, the answers are always different, so you need to consider all the advantages and disadvantages of knitting.

Most people believe that certain things can only be knitted with knitting needles or only with crochet, this is a twofold statement and now we will analyze it.

Initially, the structure of knitting and crocheting differs as much as its density. If you knit with thick thread, the material will be more elastic and soft, but when crocheted, the material will be denser and coarser, even if the yarn is the same thickness.

Therefore, if you want to knit something that is difficult to stretch, then it is better to do this kind of work using a hook. But if you need firmness and elasticity, then you should take up the knitting needles.

In addition to all this, these knitting options differ in the knitting method itself. When working with knitting needles, the material may have a front and back part, and the fabric, crocheted, comes out double-sided, simply turn the fabric over and continue knitting in the other direction.

The last difference is a way of decorating and creating patterns.

It is easier to knit patterns with relief and braids with knitting needles, and with crochet - round flat parts that can be of different shapes and colors. In terms of convenience, crocheting wins, because knitting needles have such a feature as “running loops”; this feature slows down work.

Needlewomen praise crocheting because you can start knitting from any point on the product.

It’s also easier to crochet in the round, but knitting is much more economical. To summarize, you can understand that both knitting options are quite good, so you will have to choose for yourself which suits you best.

Hello, my dear needlewomen and those who still want to become needlewomen! I have already told you about my experience of knitting cute . I knitted these for my beloved so that my hands would not freeze in the cold Siberian winter. But then another winter has come again, and the question of dressing the male part of our family in warm knitted socks has become urgent. The legs of adult sons are already completely big size, so I had to study how to knit men's socks, since I had already completely forgotten my old experience. Yes, I knitted socks for my eldest when he was still a two-year-old toddler. I still remember those first children’s socks I knitted myself: made of emerald-colored yarn with pink stripes, and they turned out so wide... Once I almost lost one sock in the snow when I had to drag my son in my arms... Well, I’ll finish my lyrical digression about the past and tell you tell you what I did with socks this time.

How to knit socks: instructions

And this time I decided to buy a large and practical skein of dark brown wool to create socks. When they wound it, they got two good balls of thread, a pair for three socks or mittens. My guide to knitting was an old book that had long been left without a cover, even when my little children (now quite big) got to it. It is written about knitting socks in a language designed for teenage girls taking their first steps in this business. Well, it came in handy for me too... I think now I can explain to you how to knit socks with knitting needles, my instructions turned out like this:

  1. The first thing that made me think about knitting socks was casting the correct number of stitches on the knitting needles. Since I planned the socks for men, it took a lot of loops for each of the four knitting needles (knitting is done in the round). Through trial and fitting, I found out that 56 loops would be just right, that is, 14 loops on each knitting needle. At this first stage of knitting socks, there are no tricks: we simply knit a regular elastic band 2 by 2 in a circle (we alternately knit 2 loops with knits, 2 loops with purls). The height of this elastic band turned out to be 9 cm.

  1. Next, too, nothing complicated: we continue knitting in the circle, but only with facial loops. As we work, we try on our future sock on the foot for which we are creating it. I knitted about 9 cm of this fabric.

  1. Now we begin to knit the heel of the sock. To do this, we continue knitting only on the first and second knitting needles, and not in the round, as before. The loops can be put on one knitting needle. Having knitted a row of stitches from these knitting needles, turn the knitting and knit the next row with purl stitches. Then we unfold the knitting again and knit a row of knit stitches. So we continue to knit the flat fabric for the heel until its height is approximately 6 cm. We finish knitting with the front row.

  1. In order for this knitted fabric to take on the shape of a heel, we proceed as follows: we divide the total number of loops of the fabric (we have 28) by 3. Since in our case it is not possible to divide the loops equally, we allocate 10 loops to the middle part of the heel and 9 loops on the side parts. You can put them on 3 different knitting needles, but at this stage I got used to knitting on two. It seemed more convenient to me. The point of this knitting stage is to knit the middle part of the heel, that is, our ten loops, and gradually eliminate the sides. We achieve this by knitting the last loop of the middle part in each row together with the outermost loop of the side part. Personally, I did just that, following the description in my old book. Although later I read on the Internet that there are some subtleties in the work, namely, the last loop of the middle part must be knitted together with the adjacent loop of the side part with a knitted loop, and the first loop of the middle part must be removed without knitting. Well, it’s worth taking this into account when I knit my next socks.

  1. And although I, apparently, did not act very accurately, I ended up with a pretty decent heel, and only ten loops of the middle part of the heel remained on the knitting needle.

  1. The next stage of knitting also caused me some confusion. How to pick up stitches on the edge of the resulting heel in order to continue knitting the sock in the round? I inserted the knitting needles into the outermost loops of the edge, although it seemed to me that this was not a very convenient way. Subsequently, I came across a video in which they advise making a set of loops at this stage using a hook. I decided to try this method next time.

  1. Then, in principle, everything is simple. All the loops that we cast on from the edge loops of the heel on one side, the loops of the middle part of the heel and the loops cast on from the edge loops of the heel on the other side are divided equally into two knitting needles, and after that we knit again in the circle on four knitting needles (we knit with the fifth ). The number of loops on the knitting needles on the heel side will be greater than on the other two. Gradually, knitting the two outer loops on these knitting needles through two circles together, we bring the number of loops on them to 14 pieces, as on the other two. Next, we knit in the round without decreasing or adding stitches until we knit our sock to the end of the little finger.

  1. By trying the product on your foot, we will see when to start decreasing the stitches and knitting the toe. We form the toe by knitting the last two stitches on each knitting needle together until there are two loops left on each knitting needle. We break the thread, pull it through these loops, and tighten it.

  1. We hide the end of the thread inside the product. Using a large needle, use a few stitches to secure the thread from the inside of the sock. We also fasten the thread from the beginning of knitting.
  1. We knit the second sock in the same way. If you wish, using yarn of a different color, you can knit striped socks, as I did. At the same time, I used the small balls of thread I had left over from another knitting project. These are the socks I got:

Not ideal, of course, but quite decent. Now, remembering what my grandmother once did, I immediately carefully washed my socks by hand with warm water. Grandma said that after this, knitted socks and mittens become softer. And, as I was convinced, I was right. Yes, now I clearly remember another grandmother’s secret of knitting socks. To prevent the heels of the socks from wearing out too quickly, when knitting the heels, my grandmother also added nylon thread to the woolen thread, which in Soviet times she received, it seems, from old nylon tights. I think nylon threads can be easily found on sale now.

And now, my dear needlewomen, it’s Christmas. And we have frosts like Christmas in Siberia. So my adult sons enjoy wearing warm knitted socks!

I hope that it will be useful for you to learn how to knit men's socks. In any case, your men will be very grateful to you for showing warm care for them.

Knitted items have always been in great demand; they are incredibly warm, soft, and pleasant to the touch. If a person knows how to work with knitting needles, then he can easily make such an original and useful gift for a loved one. Today we will talk about how to knit men's socks. Yes, we will talk about such wonderful wardrobe items. Beginners may find this too difficult work, but we will offer detailed diagrams for beginners, which will allow you to do everything correctly and efficiently.

How to choose the right knitting tools?

Naturally, before starting work, you should prepare everything necessary tools and materials. It is necessary to pay maximum attention to the choice of knitting needles and yarn.

Consider the following factors:

  • Material. Today, knitting needles are made of wood (they often leave puffs), plastic (they bend or break during operation), steel (the most reliable and strong), aluminum (they leave dark marks on the yarn).
  • Size. The choice of this parameter directly depends on the selected pattern and yarn thickness.
  • It is better to avoid buying tools that are too sharp - they can damage not only the socks and twisted yarn themselves, but also your own fingers.
  • Knitting needles can have closed ends (wire or rings at the ends). This is an ideal option for knitting large items.
  • Yarn. Since today knitting threads are mass produced by dozens of manufacturers, it is difficult to choose just one. There are woolen, synthetic threads, and iris.

Important! Wool-based products are in greatest demand, because thanks to them, finished products hold their shape well, and any design looks distinct and beautiful on them.

We knit simple men's socks with our own hands

Now we will offer you a master class in which we will tell you how to knit men's socks with knitting needles size 42 for beginners, we will describe in detail each stage of the work.

You will need the following to work:

  • Five double needles number 4.
  • Two types of soft yarn in gray and light green.

Knit socks according to this pattern:

  1. Cast on 52 loops. Distribute the cast-on stitches equally across 4 needles. As a result, each of them will have 13 loops.
  2. Knit approximately 12 cm with an elastic band, alternating threads of different shades. Work 2cm in stockinette stitch to go to heel.
  3. Transfer the loops from the very first and last knitting needles to one. Knit the heel 5 cm in knit stitch.
  4. To create the bottom of the heel, divide the 26 stitches you are working with into three equal parts. You will get 8, 9, 8 loops. Continue to knit only the central part of those you separated in stockinette stitch. Last loop In each row, knit together with the previous loop.
  5. Knit like this until all the loops on the sides are finished. As a result, only the loops of the lower heel will remain on the knitting needle.
  6. Continue knitting in the round. Cast on loops along the side edges of the wall of our heel.
  7. Reduce the additional loops cast on at the previous stage as follows: knit 2 and 3 loops from the end together on the first knitting needle, then knit 2 and 3 loops together on the fourth knitting needle. Make such decreases in every second row until all needles have the same number of stitches. Knit another 15 cm in stockinette stitch.
  8. Change the working thread to a dark green thread, then knit the 3rd and 2nd loops from the end together on the 1st and 3rd knitting needles, and also knit the 2nd and 3rd loops on the 2nd and 3rd knitting needles. Decrease on every second round until you have exactly half of the total stitches on your knitting needles.
  9. Continue decreasing stitches on each row. At the moment when you have two loops on each knitting needle, you can finish knitting, pull the thread into the remaining loops and pull it off.
  10. Knit the second sock in the same way.

In the end, you will have excellent socks that you can present to a man dear to your heart for any occasion.

Making socks using two knitting needles

Many needlewomen are interested in how to knit men's socks with two knitting needles, size 42. With a description, we will present the knitting pattern a little lower, but before that, let's figure out why the process of creating socks using only two knitting needles is of such great interest.

Their advantages include the following:

  • Easy knitting.
  • Possibility of choosing any pattern and scheme for work.
  • The assembled product has no seams, so children often wear them.

To make it easier for you, in this master class we will tell you how to make children’s socks, because then, by analogy, you will be able to knit products of any size yourself, the main thing is to clearly understand the pattern.

Using this step by step instructions, you will knit amazing socks:

  1. Prepare your tools middle length and yarn of two colors.
  2. Start knitting from the back of the cuff. First, cast on 22 stitches on both knitting needles, knit the elastic one by one for about 15 rows to make a fabric measuring 4 cm. Knit the same distance with stockinette stitch to make the back of the sock.
  3. Let's start knitting the heel. To form it, when knitting each front row, make decreases, that is, knit the 2nd and 3rd loops and the last two together. Continue knitting according to the pattern, decreasing until you have 12 stitches left on your knitting needles.
  4. Now the work should be expanded, the size of the canvas increased. From each edge loop, knit one knit stitch, knit the rows on the wrong side according to the pattern without additions. Increase until you again have 22 stitches on the needle. This will form the heel.
  5. Using stockinette stitch, knit a foot of approximately 8 cm. To create a pattern as you go, alternate colors, that is, knit 2 rows of each shade. Now you have the sole and bottom part ready.
  6. By analogy with knitting a heel, form a sock: first reduce the stitches to 12, then start adding again to the original number.
  7. Knit 8 cm of the top of the sock, connecting the edge loops with the first and last stitches in each row. This knitting option will allow you to connect the sole with the top of the sock, it will take on a complete look.
  8. Knit the cuff in stockinette stitch from the front side, joining the main fabric to the back. Knit 4 cm with an elastic band and complete the work.
  9. Knit the second sock in the same way.
