Knitted panama hats. Crochet hat with a shell pattern - practical and elegant Knitting a hat with a shell pattern on knitting needles

Head circumference: 50-52 cm.

Size: 28-30.

Age: 3-4 years.

Yarn: "Stella"(48% wool and 52% acrylic, 100g each) and "NakoBaby"(25% wool, 75% acrylic, 50 g each)

Yarn consumption: 1 1/3 skein "Stella» for vest, 1 1/5skein "NakoBaby» on the bottom cap, 1 2/3skein "Stella"on the top cap.

Hook: 4.5 mm and 3 mm.

Vest

Using hook No. 4.5 mm, we cast on 80 air loops (hereinafter referred to as VP, the number of loops is a multiple of 11 + lifting loops) Scheme 17.

Over last loop chains we knit half a shell, that is, 3 DC from one base loop, make 3 VP lifts, turn the work and move on to the 2nd row.

2nd - 4th rows: 3 VP lifting, 3 DC in the same loop where the lifting loops are (3 VP lifting + 3 DC = 4 DC), *shell from 7 DC in the middle of shell from 5 DC from the previous row*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. Over the last loop of the previous row (namely, over the top of the half shell of the previous row), we knit 4 DCs, that is, half a shell from 7 DCs, make 3 VP lifts and move on to the next row.

5th row: 3 VP lifting, 4 DC in the same loop where the lifting loops are (3 VP lifting + 4 DC = 5 DC), *shell from 9 DC in the middle of shell from 7 DC from the previous row*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. Over the last loop of the previous row (namely, over the top of the half shell of the previous row), we knit 5 DCs, that is, half a shell from 9 DCs, make 3 VP lifts and move on to the next row.

6th and 7th rows: 3 VP lifting, 4 DC in the same loop where the lifting loops are (3 VP lifting + 4 DC = 5 DC), *shell from 9 DC in the middle of shell from 9 DC from the previous row*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. Over the last loop of the previous row (namely, over the top of the half shell of the previous row), we knit 5 DCs, that is, half a shell from 9 DCs, make 3 VP lifts and move on to the next row.

8th row: 3 VP lifting, 4 dc in the same loop where the lifting loops are (3 VP lifting + 4 dc = 5 dc), *shell of 9 dc above the next 2 shells of the previous row, cast on 15 VP (for the first armhole) , skip 2 shells from the previous row, knit shells from 9 DCs over the next 6 shells from the previous row (for the back), cast on 15 VP (for the second armhole), skip 2 shells from the previous row, knit shells from 9 DCs above with the next 2 shells from the previous row, and above the last tip we knit half a shell, that is, 5 DCs.

9th row: 3 VP lifting, 4 DC in the same loop where the lifting loops are (= 5 DC), shells from 9 DC over the next 2 shells of the previous row, shell from 9 DC in 3 VP from 15 these cast-on loops, skip 4 VP, knit a shell from 9 DC, again skip 4 VP and knit a shell from 9 DC, then knit shells from 9 DC over the next 6 shells of the previous row, and then by analogy mirror knit: shell in 3 VP from 15 cast-on loops, skip 4 VP, knit a shell, skip 4 VP again, knit a shell, and then knit shells over 2 shells of the previous row and half a shell over the last tip. At the end of the row we do 3 VP lifts, turn the work and move on to the next row.

10th - 22nd rows: similar to row 6.

Plank. We take a hook No. 3 mm, tie a thread from the wrong side at the neck of the left front, make 2 VP lifts and then knit the 1st row.

1st row: 1 single crochet (hereinafter SC) along the entire shelf. At the end of the row we do 2 VP lifts, turn the work and move on to the 2nd row.

2nd row: 1 sc above each loop of the previous row. At the end of the row we do 2 VP lifts, turn the work and move on to the next row.

3rd - 6th rows: similar to row 2.

We break the thread and tie it from the wrong side at the bottom of the vest on the right side, make 2 VP lifts and knit in the same way as the left bar, only in the 4th row there will be buttonholes.

In order to make a loop, you need to skip 3 loops of the 3rd row, and knit 3 VPs above them (the 5th row is knitted as usual, that is, we knit 1 SC above the VP and above all RLS).

Having knitted the 6th row of the right front, we do not break the thread, but turn the work and begin tying the vest “along the entire perimeter” with sc, while “at turns” we knit 2 sc.

Thus, they are tied in order: right placket with loops, neckline, left front, bottom of the vest. We break the thread. Similarly, we tie the RLS around the armhole of the vest.

Double cap

Bottom cap. Using a hook No. 3 mm, we collect 4 VPs and close them in a circle with an SS.

1st row: 2 VP lifting, sc in the same loop where the lifting loops are, 2 sc in the next loop of the chain and in each loop to the end of the row.

2nd and 3rd rows: similar to row 1.

4th - 6th rows: 2 VP lift, 1 sc in the next loop of the previous row and in each loop until the end of the row.

7th row: 2 VP rise, *1 sc in the next loop of the previous row, 2 sc in the next loop of the previous row*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

8th and 9th rows: similar to the 4th row.

10th row: similar to row 7.

11th - 13th rows: similar to the 4th row.

14th row: similar to row 7.

15th - 43rd rows: similar to the 4th row.

We cut off the thread.

Ties. We tie the thread from the wrong side above the 15th loop from the connection of the rows (that is, where the VP is). In any theory they write that 1 RLS corresponds to 2 VP lifts, but in practice we need a rounded one smooth transition, so next we will do 1 VP lifting.

1st row: 1 VP of lifting and knit 1 SC over the next 16 SC of the bottom edge of the cap, 1 VP of lifting, turn the work and move on to the 2nd row.

2nd - 8th rows: We begin to decrease the loops at the beginning and at the end of the row, that is, at the beginning of the row we skip 1 loop of the previous row, and at the end of the row we knit 1 sc from 2 base loops.

9th row: In the 8th row there should be 3 loops left, in the 9th row we knit them together, that is, 1 sc over 3 loops of the 8th row.

Thus, there will be one loop left, we do not break the thread, but make 1 VP, turn the work and cast on 75 VP for the tie.

For the second tie, we tie it above the 31st loop from the connection of the rows and knit it in the same way.

Top cap. Using hook No. 4.5 mm, we collect 12 air loops and close them in a circle with SS ( Scheme 18).

1st row: 3 VP lifting, 1 Dc in the same loop where the lifting loops are, *arch of 2 VPs, 2 Dc in the next loop of the chain*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

We connect the last loop of each row with the top SS lifting loop.

2nd row: 3 VP lifting, 1 Dc in the next Dc of the previous row, * 3 VP over the arch of 2 VPs of the previous row, 1 Dc each over the next 2 Dcs of the previous row. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

3rd row: 3 VP lifting, 2 DC in the same loop where the lifting loops are, shell of 5 DC over each first of 2 DC from the previous row. We knit the last half of the shell, consisting of 2 DCs, from the same loop as the lifting loops and the first 2 DCs, that is, we knit half the shell at the beginning of the row and half at the end of the row, and the lifting loops will be in the middle.

4th row: 3 VP lifting, 3 DC in the same loop where the lifting loops are, a shell from 7 DC in the middle of each shell from 5 DC from the previous row. The last half of the shell consists of 3 dcs.

5th row: 3 VP lifting, 4 DC in the same loop where the lifting loops are, a shell from 9 DC in the middle of each shell from 7 DC from the previous row. The last half of the shell consists of 4 dcs.

6th row: 3 VP lifting, 4 DC in the same loop where the lifting loops are, a shell from 9 DC in the middle of each shell from 9 DC from the previous row. The last half of the shell consists of 4 dcs.

7th - 12th rows: similar to row 6.

13th and 14th rows: 3 VP rises, 1 sc each over the next 4 dcs of the shell halves of the previous row, 1 sc each over the next 9 dcs of the shells of the previous row, then 1 shell from 9 dcs over the middle of the next 2 shells of the previous row, then we knit 1 sc above each loop of 5 shells of the previous row, 1 shell from 9 sc above the middle of the next 2 shells of the previous row, 1 sc above each loop of the previous row to the end of the row.

We connect the top of the lower and the top of the upper cap SS with front side, and we connect the bottom from the wrong side of the SS, then we tie the bottom of the top cap with an RLS (to do this, we tie a thread at the connection of the rows, make 2 VP rises and knit 1 RLS in each loop, we reach and tie the first tie, we tie the front of the cap, the second tie and until end).

You can decorate the hat with a pompom.

Due to numerous requests from girls to knit the same one online, I am writing here my notes and a description of its knitting. If something is wrong, write in the comments, we will correct or add.
The hat is knitted in one piece in circular rows.

Let's collect incarnations in an album:

Materials and tools:
1. YarnArt Merino De Luxe 50 threads (50% merino, 50% acrylic), 280m/100g, about 100g, or other yarn of similar thickness.
2. Circular or sock knitting needles No. 2.5 and No. 3 (or another size of knitting needles that allows you to achieve the specified density).
3. Marker to indicate the beginning of the row.
4. A needle with a wide eye for securing threads.

Knitting density up to WTO knitting needles No. 3 (1010 cm): 26 loops and 36 rows.
Knitting density after WTO knitting needles No. 3 (1010 cm): 24 loops and 32 rows.

Table 1 – Size table.

All calculations are given before the WTO, but the dimensions are given taking into account the stretching. If the knitting density matches the specified one (for any yarn), you can refer to the size table. If it does not match, then you can knit according to calculations a size larger or smaller than required.

Cast on 108 (108; 120; 132; 132) stitches using the Italian cast-on method with an elastic edge on needles No. 2.5. Close the loops in a circle in a convenient way. Place a marker to mark the beginning of the row. Continue knitting in the round.
How such an elastic band is knitted is very clearly shown in the video by Yulia Dolgova:

1st row: knit stitches are knitted behind the back wall, purl stitches are removed unknitted (thread before work).
2nd row: we knit the purl ones, remove the knit ones without knitting (thread at work).
3rd row: same as first row.
4th row: same as second row.
Next, knit elastic band 22. To do this, knit the purl, knit, then remove the next two loops, swap them, return them to the left knitting needle and knit the knit and purl, then purl, knit, remove the two loops again, swap them, return to the left knitting needle and knit knit and purl, then purl, knit and so on until the end of the row.
Rows 5-12: P1, *K2, P2* - 26 (26; 29; 32;32) times, K2, P1.

Continue knitting with the main pattern. Pattern repeat 12 loops and 12 rows.
A closer look at the pattern.

Master class: crochet hat with “shells” ornament

This time I decided to make two versions of my master class.
New format: mini master class. Everything in one photo!

It is convenient for remembering ideas. You just need to save this photo on your phone or computer and then reproduce the entire process of creating a header.

And if necessary detailed instructions, you can contact classic master class on my blog.
By the way, here he is:

Crochet hat with "shells" ornament

You will need:

Yarn 100 g 225 m (I have wool blend)
Hook 4.5

Rubber:

The elastic band is knitted across to the desired length of the head circumference.

1st row: 12-14 air loops (depending on how high you want the elastic on the hat) + 1 lifting air loop.
2nd row and subsequent ones: single crochet for the back half loop + 1 lifting chain stitch.

The knitting is constantly turned and each subsequent row is knitted in the back half loop, thereby achieving the effect of an elastic band.

Little secret: At the end of each row, work the last single crochet into both halves of the stitch on the bottom row (not the back half stitch). This will make the edge of the elastic look tight and neat.

Having reached the desired length, close the elastic into a circle: fold the first and last rows and knit them in half-columns.

Mathematics:

It is important to correctly calculate the final number of rows in the elastic so that in the future...
it was easy to knit the shells in a spiral pattern.
The number of rows in the elastic band must be a multiple of 6 minus 3. And correspond to the formula
N×6 - 3
Where N is the number of shells in a row.
Let me explain:
The repeat of the “shell” pattern, which we will use to knit the main part of the hat, consists of 6 loops. There are always N full shells in one row minus half of one shell, that is, 3 loops. This is necessary for a successful transition from one row to the next and knitting a hat in a spiral.
Thus:
A hat made from 100 g of 225 m yarn produced 14 shells in a circle.
14×6-3=81 rows in rib.
Alternatively:
A hat made from 100 g of 250 m yarn produced 15 shells in a circle.
15×6-3=87 rows in rib.

Main part:

1st row:
Turn the knitting across and knit one row with single crochets, knitting one stitch at the end of each row of elastic. This way the product will look neat, and it will be easier for you to start knitting shells.

2nd row:
"Shell" pattern according to the scheme:

We knit 5 double crochets into the third loop, skipping 2 from the working loop, then 1 single crochet into the third loop, again skipping 2 loops.

We repeat in a circle.

The last shell of this row ends at the top of the first shell. Thus, the shells of the next row will be located between the shells of the previous row, in a checkerboard pattern.

3 row - 17 row:
We continue the “shells” pattern. We knit 5 double crochets into a loop between the shells of the previous row, and we knit a single crochet over the top of the shell of the previous row, skipping two loops into the third.

Reduce the number of loops in the row.

Row 18:
We knit 3 double crochets in one loop, skip two, and single crochet in the third.

Row 19:
We knit 2 double crochets in one loop, skip one, and double crochet in the second.

Yarn 1 (45% wool, 35% polyamide and 20% alpaca wool; 150 m / 50 g) - 50 g gray-red,
yarn 2 (67% viscose, 33% wool; 310 m/50 g) - 50 g red; circular knitting needles No. 4.5; hook No. 4.5.

Patterns

Facial surface

In circular rows, constantly knit facial loops.

Crochet Beginning Row

Work 2 ch, insert hook into 1st ch. and *pull the thread, throw the thread over the hook and pull it through the 1st st on the hook, throw the thread over the hook again and pull it through both loops on the hook, grab the left outer wall of the loop with the hook, * repeat constantly.

Pattern "Shells"

Knit in circular rows according to pattern, with odd circular rows knitted with gray-red thread, even circular rows with red thread.

Start with loops before the repeat, repeat the repeat constantly, finish with loops after the repeat.

For the 3rd and 15th circle.r. using connection Art. go back to the beginning of the circle.r., for the 5th circle.r. go forward using conn. Art.

Perform the 1st–6th circle 1 time, then repeat the 3rd–6th circle 2 times. and finish the 15th–22nd lap.r.

Knitting density

16 p. = 10 cm, knitted stockinette stitch in 2 red threads;
1 repeat x 8 circular rows = 6.5 x 8.5 cm, knitted with the main pattern.

Getting the job done

Using a double gray-red thread, crochet the initial row of 70 (80) loops and close it into a ring using 1 connection. Art.

After the 22nd lap. r. pull it tight working thread remaining 14 (16) sts.

For the initial row, cast on 80 (88) stitches with double red thread and knit 5 rounds for the rulik. in stockinette stitch, then bind off the stitches.

At first glance it may seem that crocheting a hat is very difficult, but it is not so. Of course, knitted hats look much closer to store-bought clothes, but this is their drawback. It may be a little more difficult to crochet a warm hat, but you have more room for imagination.

Crocheting hats can be divided into several parts:

  • Choosing the right model
  • Selection of hook and yarn
  • Taking measurements
  • The process of knitting a hat

Let's start with selecting a model. Do you need warm hat for autumn/winter or light for spring? Do you like pom-pom hats, berets or beanies? Based on this data, we look for the model we need:

  • Crochet beanie hat
  • Crochet beret
  • Hat with pompom

Taking measurements for crocheting a hat

  1. AB – depth of the cap, measured from the forehead to the neck (from the eyebrows to the beginning of hair growth).
  2. CD – cap height – measured from one ear to the other through the crown. This size needs to be divided in half.
  3. Head circumference (head circumference) - measured along the line of the forehead and the protruding part of the back of the head. This is your hat size (for adults from 54-62 cm).

In accordance with the measurements taken, you can start knitting a hat. But, if you have a model at hand, or you knit for yourself, then the easiest way is to make once again try it on and don’t bother taking measurements.

Now you need to pick the right yarn. For a winter hat, we recommend using wool blend yarn or acrylic. A hat usually only needs 1-2 skeins, so don’t skimp on yarn. It is better to take imported yarn, because... it is softer and does not make your head itch. If you are allergic to wool, then buy cashmere. 100% cashmere yarn is very expensive, so choose yarn that contains at least 50% cashmere.

If high-quality yarn in your stores is very expensive, then sew a lining from fleece for a winter crocheted hat or from knitwear for an autumn hat.

For a light spring crocheted hat, you can buy yarn with a cotton composition, at least 50% cotton and 50% acrylic will be enough. Choose the thickness of the yarn depending on the size of the hook.

How to choose the right hook for the yarn when crocheting hats

Take the thread and lightly twist it in half. The thickness of the twisted yarn should be equal to the thickness of your hook. It is best to start by knitting a small sample of 10*10 cm and see how the yarn behaves and whether the chosen pattern is suitable for it. Sometimes you think you've found a really nice crochet hat, but your yarn just isn't right for it.

And finally, we want to say that the easiest way to crochet a hat is according to the pattern, but sometimes it’s enough to look at several dozen models to understand what exactly you want and start knitting. We have prepared a selection of crocheted hats from our readers to make it easier for you to decide. Knit for your health!
