School vests: for girls and boys. Building a pattern for a school vest for a boy Download a pattern for a puffy vest for a boy

There are several ways to sew a children's vest, which one should you choose?

Our master class will show best option. You will learn how easy it is to make a pattern yourself and master the original technology of sewing a vest.

Children's vest: choosing fabric

Before buying fabric, decide on the length of the vest, and then add 5 cm to it - this will be the amount of fabric you need for the front side and the same amount you need for the lining. Choose a medium-weight fabric for your vest: cotton, denim or corduroy, suit fabrics, fine wool. You can make a traditional lining from silk, viscose or satin, but you can also use the same type of fabrics as on front side. In our example we used denim for the front side and thick striped cotton for the lining.

Match the threads and buttons to the fabric you have already purchased. You can also sew a completely reversible vest - buy twice as many buttons (with holes, not on the leg!) and sew them in pairs from the front and back at the same time.

For the sample we used a T-shirt, but it can also be a shirt - as long as the item is the right size.

So, let's sew a children's vest!

Constructing a pattern

Lay out a sheet of paper on a flat surface. Place a T-shirt folded in half on it.

Trace the line of the armhole and neckline with a pencil, and also mark the vertical lines of the middle of the part and the side seam.

Take off your T-shirt. Measure the desired depth of the cutout and move the mark to the line of the middle of the part and connect it to the left extreme point of the shoulder. Draw the desired silhouette of the bottom of the vest at the required distance from the shoulder. Cut out the pattern, notching it so that it is convenient to mark the fabric for cutting out both the front and back.

Uncover

The sewing technology used in this master class requires a seam in the middle of the back in the lining fabric. A seam along the back on the front is optional, and you can cut out the back in one solid piece.

From the main fabric (for the front side):

From lining fabric:

  • 2 back pieces, to cut out the second pattern, turn it over and mirror it.
  • 2 front pieces (vest panels), to cut out the second pattern, turn it over and mirror it.

Work progress

  • vest details
  • buttons
  • thread, pins and scissors

Sew the back pieces from the main fabric in the center. Sew the back pieces from the lining fabric - leave part of the seam open in the middle, about 10cm. Press seam allowances to the sides.

Fold the parts of the back and shelves from the main and lining fabric in pairs with the right side inward. Pin and stitch around the perimeter, leaving the side and shoulder seams open.

Cut the allowances at the armholes with scissors, 2-3mm short of the seam, cut the allowances at the corners at an angle.

Insert shelves into open ones side seams back and combine shoulder and side seams.

Pin all layers together and sew shoulder and side seams.

Turn the vest inside out through the open area in the center seam of the back lining.

Mark the location for the loops and sew them by hand or by machine. Sew buttons.

White has always been considered a festive color. If your boy is too active, and after half an hour his elegant clothes turn into wrinkled and slightly dirty clothes, knit him a white festive vest. Such clothes are suitable if you are going to visit or, for example, to the cinema. Wear this piece over a regular shirt for a neat and festive look. Upon arrival to the guests, the sleeveless vest can be removed so that it does not interfere with the tomboy’s frolic and play.

And here’s what I got from the second “camouflage” raincoat fabric - a warm vest for warm autumn days. I sewed from a similar raincoat fabric in “protective” colors. I was convinced once again that welt pockets are an excellent choice for a child - there is somewhere to put their hands, and there is plenty of space for “all sorts of important things,” as our son says.

The fabric for the vest is raincoat fabric (for size 110, 60 cm was enough for me with a width of 140 cm), for the lining it is fleece. If you want, you can also add insulation, but I sewed without it.

I also needed:

– detachable zipper 50 cm,

– thick hat elastic (40 cm),

– retainer,

– reflective tape for finishing pockets.

Here is a pattern for height 110, you can simply print it on A4 sheets (do not forget to set the A4 format when printing and check the size of the cage - 1 cm), or draw it yourself, based on the size of the cage 1x1 cm.

Details of the pattern for an autumn children's jacket for size 110:

1. Front shelf – 2 parts + 2 parts

2. Back – 1 folded piece + 1 folded piece

3. Hood – 2 parts + 2 parts

5. Inner pocket burlap – 2 parts

6. Pocket outer burlap – 2 pieces

7. Leaf – 2 parts

Let's start sewing with pockets.

We transfer the location of the pocket (according to the pattern) to the front shelves. Fold the leaf in half with the right sides inward, and grind the side edges. We turn it inside out and pin the piece of paper to the edge of the pocket entrance closest to the center of the front on the front side. We sew (we finish the line strictly at the ends of the entrance to the pocket).

We pin the outer burlap to the leaf, align the right sides and sew along the line of the previously made stitch. We pin the inner burlap of the pocket to the other edge of the pocket entrance, align the right sides and stitch them.

Cut through with wrong side pocket entrance. We follow the marks. Please note that the corners of the pocket opening are cut diagonally to the guide stitches.

Turn the pocket inside out. The triangles formed at each end of the pocket entrance are stitched to the inner burlap of the pocket and the leaf.

We sew both burlap pockets.

Along the front side we sew off the side edges of the leaves. I stitched small strips of reflective tape onto the top and bottom edges of the leaves. Like this welt pocket I did it with a leaf.

And this is for those who want to watch. Maybe this will be even clearer)))

Then we sew the hood. We grind the grooves. I did this with a finishing stitch. Fold the edges end to end. Then we sew together the parts from the main and lining fabrics, folding them right sides together.

I didn’t have any blocks for inserting the drawstring into the edge of the hood; I didn’t want to run to the store))) I decided to do it as follows. I cut out a small rectangle from the main fabric, stitched the edges, and pinned it to the middle of the hood (along the seam). I made holes on the sides so that I could insert a drawstring (hat elastic) and stitched a rectangle onto the hood. I think it's clear in the photographs. Here is an alternative to blocks)))

We sew the hat elastic to the edge of the hood at an equal distance. We put a fastener on the elastic band. Fold the main part of the hood and the lining right sides together and stitch along the edge. Turn it inside out.

We sew the hood along the front side along the edge where the elastic runs so that the hood can be pulled together. We make a hanger loop from scraps of the main fabric. I take a strip of fabric no more than 2 cm wide, fold the edges and sew with either a finishing stitch or a zig-zag stitch.

Sew the shoulder seams. We sew the hood to the main part.

We put the lining into the main part of the vest. We sew the lining in the hood area, do not forget to put a loop in the middle.

Now we sew in the zipper. I put a loop from a hat elastic band into the zipper’s “dog” and tie it with a knot, this is convenient for the child to fasten the zipper himself. First I baste the zipper to the main piece, then I baste the lining and stitch along the right side.

Bottom of the vest. First, we baste the main and lining fabrics together, and then stitch along the front side.

Fashion is the prerogative of women, accompanied by shoes, ribbons, skirts, handbags and so on. Men can only take it for granted. However, every woman believes that a man should always be dressed with taste.

The attribute of a respectable man is business suit. However, a men's vest occupies an equally important place. Today they are again experiencing another peak in popularity. It is no coincidence that leading couturiers added them to their latest collections, making them an integral element of the men's wardrobe.

Considering the requirements, the vest must fit perfectly on any figure, so it has a rather complex design. Simplifying the model leads to unnecessary folds, an inflated silhouette, and unfastened buttons.

In its classic form, a men's vest, being an integral part of a three-piece business suit, should cover the waistband of the trousers. Being quite narrow at the waist, it does not restrict freedom of movement and, of course, is made of the same fabric as the trousers. Therefore, when wearing, the correct choice of size will play an important role. After all, if a loose fit is acceptable for trousers or a jacket, then the vest should be perfectly tailored to the figure: somewhat loose along the chest line and tight-fitting at the waist.

However, when wearing a vest separately from a suit, it can have a variety of deviations from its classic version. These include insulated models with leather and fur inserts, inflated ones, quilted ones, and leather ones of various colors. Perhaps, inflated, as well as leather, or dressed on a naked body are far from the concept of elegance, but with the correct selection of accessories and other elements of clothing that match the chosen style, they can create a unique image of the owner. Thanks to this, a men's vest is a worthy choice for extraordinary individuals, making it a key element of their image.

In combination with a suit, the vest is stylish and functional, and when worn on a naked body, it is sexy and original. When choosing your favorite model, feel free to experiment with it, remaining courageous and fashionable.

What and when to wear a men's vest with

Thanks to the efforts of designers, today men have a wide variety of vests, both in style and texture. These are jackets, blousons, cardigans, and all kinds of fur, leather, and knitted vests. The list goes on and on. In this regard, models made of cashmere or suiting fabric in a single color are recommended for lunches and business meetings. When going to a social party, wear a satin silk vest. Denim, knitwear and jacquard are perfect for those who like to surprise and experiment.

Due to its functionality, the vest is such a unique item of clothing that it goes well with a shirt, T-shirt, and suit. And those who believe that it can only be worn with a single-breasted jacket with buttons are very mistaken.

The pattern of a vest for a girl was developed according to numerous requests from readers especially for young schoolgirls. We publish a pattern we have developed for size 32, but using this technology it is very easy to model a vest for any size.

Building a basic pattern

To create a pattern you need

in our case we use a model with the following measures:

  • Back length to waist – 28 cm
  • Length of back to hips – about 38 cm
  • Shoulder length – 10 cm
  • Half neck circumference – 14 cm
  • Half chest circumference – 32 cm
  • Half waist circumference – 30 cm
  • Armhole depth – 16.5 cm ()

Meshing

When constructing the pattern for the base of the vest, we will use the measurements that we took. From point A, set the length down to the hips according to the measurement, to the right - 1/2 of the chest circumference + 3 cm for a loose fit - point A1. From point A down, measure the length of your back to your waist, and draw a horizontal waist line.

From point A downwards, set the depth of the armhole according to the measurement, draw a horizontal line for the armhole. Divide AA1 in half and draw a vertical line from the division point (point G2) up and down.

Armhole width. Calculate the width of the armhole using the formula: 1/4 of the half-circumference of the chest according to the measurement plus 1 cm for all sizes = 32/4 + 1 = 9 cm. Set aside 4.5 cm to the right and left of point G2 - points G and G1 are obtained. From these points, raise perpendiculars upward - points P and P1 are obtained.

Back neckline. From point A to the right, set aside 5.2 cm (1/3 of the half-circumference of the neck according to the measurement + 0.5 cm) = 14/3 + 0.5 = 5.2 cm. Set aside 1.5 cm upward for all sizes. Using the pattern, draw the back neckline.

Shoulder line. From point P, set aside 1.5 cm downwards, and through this point draw a shoulder line as long as measured.

Back armhole cutout. Divide the PG into 3 equal parts, draw an armhole line along the pattern as shown in Fig. 1.

Front neckline. From point A1, set aside 2 cm upward - lifting the shelf. From point 2 down and to the left, set aside 5.2 cm (1/3 of the half-circumference of the neck according to the measurement +0.5 cm) = 14/3+0.5=5.2 cm. Draw the front neckline according to the pattern.

Front shoulder tilt. From point P1, put 1 cm down. Through point 1, draw a front shoulder line of length according to measurement.

Front armhole cutout. Divide P1G1 in half, draw the armhole line along the pattern as shown in Fig. 1.

The side line of the vest. Along the waistline to the right and left, set aside 1.5 cm - side darts. Draw new lines: front and back sides.

IMPORTANT! Check your waist circumference according to the drawing and measurements. According to the drawing, the waist circumference should be 1-2 cm larger.

Vest style modeling

Modeling of a vest style for a girl is given in Fig. 2. Pattern of a vest for a girl - modeling. If the difference between the chest and waist circumference is insignificant, do not make darts in raised seams(!).
